Radiation Oncology Nurse PractitionerThe Radiation Oncology Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive, evidence-based care to patients undergoing radiation therapy for cancer. Working collaboratively with radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, nurses, dosimetrists, social workers, and other members of the multidisciplinary oncology team, the NP evaluates, treats, educates, and follows patients throughout the continuum of care.Position Responsibilities Includes but is not limited to:Perform comprehensive history and physical examinationsEvaluate patients before, during, and after radiation therapyDevelop and formulate treatment plans in collaboration with the radiation & medical oncologistManage acute and chronic toxicities associated with radiation therapyAssess treatment response and monitor disease progression, including ordering diagnostic testingProvide patient and family education and referrals as neededEvaluate urgent oncology-related concerns, including treatment complicationsProvide survivorship care and long-term follow-upPerform consultations with the radiation oncologist for inpatientsParticipate in quality improvement initiatives, tumor boards, clinical protocols, and evidence-based practice projectsDocument patient encounters accurately and in a timely manner in the electronic medical record (EMR)Qualifications:Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and completed masters or postgraduate certificate Nurse Practitioners' program.High quality of nursing competence and advanced leadership skills.Certification/Licensure:Current registration with NJ State Board of Nursing.Certified by nationally recognized nurse practitioner organization.BLS Certification required.ACLS preferred.
