Workflow Annotator, Software Engineering

Help improve next-generation AI systems by creating realistic, end-to-end software engineering workflows grounded in everyday GitHub practices. This remote contract role draws on your engineering expertise to produce high-quality examples of how technical work is planned, executed, documented, and reviewed. No prior AI experience is required. Role Overview

You will develop a library of detailed, multi-step engineering scenarios that help AI systems learn to reason through real-world software development work.

• Design and write authentic software engineering task scenarios, including pull request management, issue triage, merge-conflict resolution, and CI configuration updates in GitHub.
• Perform and document workflows in real time using the relevant tools, recording steps, rationale, edge cases, and decision points.
• Use collaboration tools such as Slack, Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, and Snowflake when appropriate to create complete engineering-process scenarios.
• Create structured workflow documentation covering step order, intent, expected outcomes, and supporting visual materials such as screenshots or logs when needed.
• Identify ambiguous or unrealistic scenarios, share them with the data program team, and revise workflows based on feedback.
• Submit deliverables and work with project leads through an internal annotation platform.

• At least 2 years of professional software engineering experience using GitHub-centered workflows daily.
• Strong written English skills, with clear, consistent, detail-oriented process documentation.
• Hands-on experience using Slack and Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace in regular engineering work.
• Experience with code review, version control, branching, or release workflows.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, code-review platforms, or process-documentation systems is preferred.
• Basic SQL skills, ideally with Snowflake, are helpful but not required.
• Experience in data annotation, technical writing, or QA documentation is a plus.

• Remote contract engagement.

• $14 to $36 per hour.
