Analyst — Commercial Real Estate Asset Management, Portfolio Management, and Investments

Job Overview The Analyst supports each critical function of the commercial real estate investment and management process including individual asset management, broader portfolio management, and new investments. The Analyst will contribute to the management and optimization of individual commercial real estate investments and broader fund- and company-wide portfolios by conducting financial analysis, market research, performance tracking, and reporting. The Analyst will collaborate with owners, property managers, leasing agents and investment teams to assist in executing strategies that maximize asset value and returns for existing assets. The Analyst will collaborate with accountants and investment teams to assist in executing strategies that support portfolio-wide efficiency and drive value. The Analyst will collaborate with investment teams, brokers, attorneys, accountants, among others in evaluating new acquisition and development opportunities. The position requires proficiency in real estate financial modeling and familiarity with industry-standard software. The Analyst will play a key role in preparing reports, monitoring market trends, and contributing to decision-making processes. Clear, concise communication of findings and actionable insights along with managing competing priorities is essential. Inputs The Analyst typically receives a variety of inputs including property financial statements, lease agreements, vendor agreements, market research reports, tenant communications, and property performance data. These inputs often arrive via email, property management software platforms, internal databases, and direct communications from ownership, leasing agents, and other stakeholders. The role requires reviewing and synthesizing this information to support existing property performance analysis, new investment underwriting, and decision-making. Activities Assist in managing individual real estate assets and broader portfolios to execute investment strategies Conduct financial analysis and modeling for acquisitions, dispositions, developments, and performance evaluations Monitor property performance metrics including occupancy rates, rental income, and operating expenses Support the preparation of investment proposals, reports, and presentations for stakeholders Collaborate with property managers, leasing agents, and investment teams to ensure alignment on asset strategies Perform market research and competitive analysis to inform asset management decisions Maintain and update databases and documentation Assist in budgeting, forecasting, reconciliation, and variance analysis for properties Content Examples Financial performance reports for real estate assets, including cash flow statements and ROI analyses Market research summaries on property values, rental rates, occupancy, and submarket trends Lease abstracts and tenant profiles for portfolio properties Asset valuation models using Microsoft Excel and other industry-standard tools Risk assessment documents related to property management and investment strategies Investment proposal presentations for potential new investments (acquisitions and developments) and dispositions Maintenance and capital expenditure tracking reports Loan request documentation including projections, market information, tenant information, sponsor information, and business plan justification Sample Event-Driven Tasks Responding to tenant lease renewal requests or early termination notices by analyzing financial impact and advising on negotiation strategies Investigating and addressing unexpected property maintenance issues or emergency repairs reported by property management teams Coordinating responses upon receipt of new regulatory requirements affecting property operations Preparing and submitting financial reports and documentation in response to investor or lender inquiries Monitoring and responding to tenant defaults such as rent payment delinquencies by initiating recovery or mitigation actions Sample Scheduled Tasks Conduct monthly financial performance reviews of real estate assets, including variance analysis against budgets and forecasts Prepare and distribute quarterly asset performance reports Monitor lease expirations and rent roll updates to ensure timely renewals and adjustments Perform regular sub-market research updates to track local leasing trends and comparable property performance Sample Infill Tasks Analyze historical asset data to identify opportunities for operational improvements and cost savings Develop additional proficiency in real estate financial modeling software and tools Attend industry webinars and training sessions focused on real estate investment and asset management best practices Support the preparation of investment memos and presentations for potential acquisitions, developments, and dispositions Collaborate with leasing and property management teams to understand tenant satisfaction and retention strategies Update and maintain internal databases with current asset information and market info Posting Description We are seeking a motivated Analyst to join our experienced real estate team.
