Senior Data Architect

Senior Data Architect Location: Dallas, Texas (hybrid – onsite 3-4 days/week) *LOCAL CANDIDATE ONLY
Contract: 12-18 months

Our client is looking for a Senior Data Architect who’s passionate about designing smart, scalable, and strategic enterprise data solutions. This is an opportunity to take ownership of complex data architecture initiatives across Oracle on-premise environments, enterprise data modeling, Data Governance, and Master Data Management (MDM) while partnering closely with business and technical teams to shape how data is structured and managed across the organization.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline
• 10+ years of experience in data architecture, data modeling, or database engineering, including experience as a senior/lead data modeler, solution architect, or data architect
• Deep, hands-on expertise with Erwin Data Modeler in an enterprise environment, including model repositories, subject areas, versioning, and complex compare/merge activities
• Strong expertise with Oracle Database (on-premise), including SQL/PL-SQL, schema design, and performance
• Proven experience designing and modeling for large data volumes ranging from multi-GB to multi-TB scale
• Strong understanding of data modeling principles, including normalization/denormalization, keys, referential integrity, and conceptual, logical, physical, and dimensional modeling
• Strong background in Data Governance and Master Data Management (MDM), including metadata, data lineage, and data dictionary standards
• Extensive knowledge of data movement and processing, including ETL, middleware, APIs, and OLAP
• Experience establishing enterprise data standards, governance policies, and architectural guidelines
• Proven ability to translate business requirements and strategy into effective data architecture and communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present architecture decisions and trade-offs to leadership
• A proactive, detail-oriented mindset with the confidence to provide technical direction and mentor data modelers, ETL developers, DBAs, and Data Analysts
• Experience in a regulated industry such as utilities, financial services, insurance, or healthcare is a plus
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Denodo, or tools such as ER/Studio, Power Designer, Collibra, or Alation is a plus

Responsibilities:

• Define and own the enterprise data architecture strategy, including target-state models, subject areas, standards, and long-term roadmaps
• Establish and maintain enterprise-wide data modeling standards, naming conventions, and governance policies within Erwin
• Design and review conceptual, logical, and physical data models for complex, cross-functional, and high-volume data domains
• Provide architectural guidance to data modelers, ensuring enterprise standards and performance
• Partner with technical and business teams to align data architecture with organizational goals
• Evaluate Oracle database architecture for scalability, performance, maintainability, including partitioning and indexing strategies
• Lead legacy Oracle schema rationalization and assess enterprise-scale architectural risks
• Drive Data Governance and MDM practices, including policies, standards, data lineage, metadata, and data dictionaries
• Develop and support the strategic roadmap for Master Data Management, including implementation and best practices
• Help promote adoption of Data Virtualization, including Denodo, across the enterprise
• Create and maintain architecture documentation and modeling guidelines
• Mentor data modelers, ETL developers, DBAs, and Data Analysts on data architecture and modeling best practices
• Present architecture decisions, trade-offs, and roadmaps to senior leadership and non-technical stakeholders
