A client of ours is seeking a Senior Transportation Engineer for a full-time, direct-hire opportunity in Houston. This position is ideal for a licensed Texas Professional Engineer with extensive roadway design and plan-production experience who wants to remain technically involved while contributing to project oversight, quality control, and client coordination. The selected candidate will lead roadway schematic and final PS&E design, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and subconsultants, review technical deliverables, and support successful transportation project delivery.

Salary: $150,000-$185,000 annually

License Required: Texas Professional Engineer (PE)

Responsibilities

• Lead and support roadway schematic and final PS&E design
• Develop horizontal and vertical alignments, roadway geometry, intersections, ramps, and traffic control plans
• Prepare construction plans, specifications, quantities, and cost estimates in accordance with DOT standards
• Perform highway drainage analysis
• Coordinate with supporting disciplines, including traffic, lighting, electrical, signalization, ITS, and tolling
• Review engineering plans, reports, and technical deliverables for quality and accuracy
• Conduct field visits as needed
• Work closely with clients, internal teams, and subconsultants
• Support proposals, client pursuits, and other business development efforts

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; master's degree is a plus
• 6-15 years of transportation or roadway engineering experience
• At least five years of roadway, transportation, or bridge plan-production experience
• Experience delivering projects under TxDOT, GDOT, VDOT, or similar state DOT standards
• Texas PE license or the ability to obtain one within two months
• Proficiency in MicroStation V8i and GEOPAK
• Open Roads experience is a plus
• Strong understanding of roadway schematics, PS&E, alignments, profiles, intersections, ramps, and traffic control plans
• Ability to interpret survey information, specifications, standard drawings, maps, and other technical documentation
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Comfortable working in a collaborative, hands-on design and production environment

This is an opportunity for an experienced transportation engineer to remain involved in technical design while taking on broader responsibilities in project delivery, QA/QC, and client support.
