Assistant Professor, AI Assisted Drug Design

The Cleveland Clinic is establishing an innovative Center for Experimental Therapeutics whose vision is to be at the forefront of drug discovery and development. The Center is committed to pioneering new approaches that leverage cutting‑edge technologies and accelerate the creation of novel therapeutics that address unmet medical needs. It is supported by the exceptional resources at the Cleveland Clinic. We are seeking a highly motivated faculty member to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in AI‑based drug discovery (such as small molecules and biologics) and testing. Key Responsibilities Develop and apply AI/ML models in multiple areas of therapeutic development including novel target identification as well as prediction and design of novel therapeutic biologics (such as antibodies and nanobodies) and/or small molecule compounds. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate computational approaches with experimental validation. Secure research funding and lead projects in AI‑driven drug discovery. Mentor graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, fostering a collaborative and innovative research environment. Publish high‑impact research findings in peer‑reviewed journals and present at scientific conferences. Qualifications PhD and/or MD (or equivalent in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Chemistry, or a related field). Demonstrated expertise in AI and machine learning techniques (such as deep learning, generative AI, foundation models) as applied to drug discovery. Strong publication record showcasing innovative research in AI and therapeutics. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration. Experience in securing research funding and leading research projects is desirable.
