Role Description The Community Development Coordinator is a full-time, on-site role based in Pomona, CA. This position is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with campus and external community partners to support Cal Poly Pomona’s mission of diversity, economic mobility, and experiential learning. Daily activities include coordinating and promoting community programs, organizing outreach events, and supporting initiatives that strengthen ties between the university, local organizations, and residents. The coordinator will collaborate with internal stakeholders to align community efforts with institutional priorities, develop communication materials, and track program outcomes. The role also involves overseeing event logistics, collecting feedback from participants, and preparing reports to improve ongoing community development efforts. Qualifications Demonstrated experience in community engagement and community development, including building partnerships with diverse stakeholders. Knowledge of community and economic development principles, with the ability to support initiatives that advance regional growth and opportunity. Strong communication skills, including public speaking, stakeholder outreach, and the ability to represent the university in a professional manner. Event management skills, including planning, coordinating, and executing community-focused programs and activities. Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse, multicultural environment and to foster inclusive participation in community initiatives. Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Proficiency with common office and collaboration software; experience with social media or digital outreach tools is beneficial. Bachelor’s degree in public administration, urban planning, communications, sociology, education, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
