Senior Interior Design Specialist, Cabinetry & Home Renovation

Hourly Rate: $24.00 per hour (fixed entry rate for this position, non‑negotiable). Future pay increases are based on performance, growth, and time in the role. Overview: As a Senior Retail Designer of Cabinetry and Home Renovation, you will guide customers from concept to completion for kitchen, bathroom, laundry room, and custom built‑ins projects. You’ll use Wayfair’s product catalog to provide complete renovation solutions and help drive store success. Responsibilities Own the design process: Lead cabinetry and home renovation projects from concept to completion, using 2020 Design Live (or similar) to develop layout plans, renderings, and product recommendations. Educate customers on construction types, materials, finishes, and specialty features. Deliver personalized consultations in‑store, virtual, or in‑home, listening deeply and recommending solutions tailored to timeline and budget. Develop floor plans, mood boards, 3D visuals, and complete product packages; manage full project lifecycle and post‑order support. Stay ahead of design trends and new materials, sharing fresh ideas with each customer. Leverage analytics and digital tools to build persuasive space plans and shopping experiences that grow the business. Adapt to evolving customer needs and store promotions while delivering high‑impact experiences. Generate new leads, build rapport, and close personalized solutions to grow the pipeline. Support store success with visual updates, floor sets, inventory tasks, and ideas that benefit the team. Operate as “One Team” by cross‑training across sales and back‑of‑house functions to support peak business periods. Qualifications 3+ years of kitchen, bath, cabinetry, or home renovation design experience; experience focused on cabinetry is a bonus. Proficiency in 2020 Design software (or equivalent) and familiarity with CRM/POS systems such as Salesforce. Track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals and building trust while selling large‑scale solutions. Flexible schedule to cover nights, weekends, and holidays. Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in a related field preferred. Leadership or training experience in a retail or design setting is a plus. Professional certifications such as NKBA, NAHB, NARI, or KBDI are advantageous. Complete product knowledge from cabinetry to tile and ability to guide customers through every step. Collaborative, team‑focused mindset with strong organizational skills and communication. Physical and Environmental Requirements Frequent standing, walking, reaching, occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, and crawling. Regular stooping, kneeling, and crouching during the day. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs independently on a regular basis; heavier items require proper assistance or equipment. Adequate vision (close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception) and ability to adjust focus. Comfortable in environments with varying temperature conditions. Tolerance to moderate noise levels from physical activity. Adherence to safety protocols to minimize workplace hazards.
