Position Summary The CDL Driver – Automated Side-Load (ASL) is responsible for operating an automated residential collection vehicle to safely and efficiently service assigned routes. This position focuses on automated side-load equipment and residential service, with an emphasis on safety, route efficiency, customer service, and DOT compliance. ASL drivers typically operate dual-drive automated trucks , allowing for right-side operation with minimal manual handling. Key Responsibilities Route & Equipment Operation Safely operate an Automated Side-Load (ASL) truck on assigned residential routes Perform daily route assignments efficiently and on schedule Use automated arms to collect carts while maintaining awareness of surroundings Navigate residential neighborhoods safely and defensively Safety & Compliance Comply with DOT and FMCSA regulations , including Hours of Service (HOS) Perform required pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report any defects Follow all company safety policies, traffic laws, and site-specific procedures Immediately report accidents, incidents, injuries, or property damage Customer Service & Professionalism Provide courteous and professional service to customers and the public Maintain a clean and professional appearance of assigned equipment Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and operations staff Yard & Support Duties Assist with basic yard or equipment-related tasks as assigned Support team operations to ensure consistent service delivery Qualifications Required Valid CDL (Class A or B) Acceptable MVR and ability to meet company insurance requirements Current DOT medical card Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions Strong safety awareness and reliability Preferred Previous ASL or residential route experience Experience operating automated or dual-drive equipment Prior waste, garbage, or local delivery driving experience Work Environment Outdoor, physically active role Residential route operation with frequent stops Fast-paced, safety-sensitive environment Why Join Capital Waste Services Home daily with predictable residential routes Well-maintained, modern automated equipment Stable, growing company with advancement opportunities Competitive pay and benefits Safety-first culture with strong operational support Sign-On Bonuses $2500 and up based on experience Requirements Previous experience with Front-End Load, Roll-Off, Rear-Load, Automated Side-Load (ASL) (Preferred) High school diploma or general education degree (GED) (desired) Possess valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Prior waste industry driving experience (Preferred) Two (2) years of satisfactory driving experience of Class A or B vehicles (Required) Satisfactory MVR (Motor Vehicle Driving Record) Must pass a DOT physical, drug screen and criminal background check #J-18808-Ljbffr
