Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner - Per Diem / Part time For nearly 150 years, The Jewish Board has delivered innovative, best‑in‑class mental and behavioral health services. We serve patients from infants through adults, impacting over 45,000 New Yorkers each year. Purpose The Community Behavioral Health treatment programs provide culturally affirming, person‑centered services to individuals and families, working closely with community partners to address health disparities while celebrating community strengths. Position Overview The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NPP) provides psychiatric services and care to the agency’s children and adult populations in community clinic practices, including clinical diagnosis, medication management, and discharge planning. The NPP works as part of an interdisciplinary team and may cover for other NPPs or assist with long‑acting medication administration. Key Essential Functions Conduct psychiatric assessments, clarify diagnoses, recommend treatment options and educate clients on mental health and recovery strategies. Review patient progress and recommend discharge and aftercare planning. Attend case conferences and provide feedback. Prescribe psychotropic medication as appropriate. Collaborate with nurses and other staff for individual, group, and family therapy. Assist with urgent crisis evaluations and interventions. Core Competencies Translate research to improve practice processes and outcomes. Communicate knowledge effectively, orally and in writing. Participate in quality improvement projects. Create a patient‑centered care climate with confidentiality, privacy, comfort, emotional support, mutual trust, and respect. Work in supervision with central psychiatry team and directors to improve practice. Educational / Training Requirements Licensed as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in New York State. Current DEA registration for controlled substances. ANCC certification or pending application required. NYS OPRA status approved or application pending and Health Commerce Account in place. Work as a team member with complex cases. Proficient with Microsoft Office and electronic health records. Experience / Language Preference Spanish‑speaking preferred but not required. Computer Skills Proficient use of electronic health records. Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook). Comfortable with audio‑video platforms (Zoom). Physical Requirements The work environment involves no physical risk or hazardous conditions. Candidate must sit 90% of the time and stand 10% of the time.
