Hospitalist – East Market

Duluth, Virginia, MN; Superior, WI Essentia Health is seeking exceptional hospitalists to join our East Market Team. These hospitalists will primarily be based in Duluth, providing approximately 50% of their service there, while also covering our regional hospitals in Virginia and Superior.

Practice Specifics

• Flexible team players who address complex issues in hospital medicine within a collaborative environment.
• Join a team of nearly 80 hospitalists, including physicians and NP/PAs.
• Great flexibility with a 1.0 FTE equating to 168 shifts, typically following a 7/7 schedule for 24 weeks per year.
• Mileage/rental car and lodging (if desired) are reimbursed for travel from Primary Location.
• Procedures are not required.
• Opportunities to participate in hospital-based research, quality, and clinical initiatives.
• Opportunity to engage with our inpatient teaching service for Duluth Family Medicine residents.
• Utilize Epic EMR throughout the entire Essentia system.
• Short‑term vent management (up to 24 hours) is required in Virginia; additional training supplied if necessary.

Coverage Locations

1. St. Mary’s Medical Center – 350‑bed facility, Level 1 Adult and Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center; 5‑Star CMS rating; located on the shore of Lake Superior.
2. Essentia Health Duluth – 140‑bed multi‑specialty hospital with acute dialysis, medical‑surgical, psychiatry, and outpatient surgery units; 4‑Star CMS rating; recognized by the American Hospital Association.
3. Essentia Health Virginia – 30‑bed Level IV Trauma Center; regional hub for local surgery; undergoing a $13 million upgrade to its emergency department; located 60 minutes from Duluth.
4. St. Mary’s Hospital in Superior – 25‑bed Level IV Trauma Center; regional hub for local surgery; just minutes from Duluth, MN.

Compensation

$348,103 – $383,262. Hired candidates may be eligible to receive additional compensation in the form of bonuses, quality incentives or production‑based compensation.
