Regional Manager

Provide strategic leadership, coaching, and accountability to Regional Managers and Market Managers, building a strong leadership bench and ensuring consistent execution across all markets. Own performance across the assigned region by translating company strategy into clear priorities, establishing accountability, and driving sustainable results across sales, patient experience, staffing, and operational execution. Identify and develop high-potential leaders, strengthens succession plans, and creates a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and high performance. Partner cross-functionally to translate enterprise initiatives into actionable regional plans, ensuring consistent execution while adapting strategies to the unique needs and opportunities of each market and region.

Drive business and deliver results:

• Own overall performance across the assigned region, establishing measurable goals and holding Regional Managers and Market Managers accountable for achieving sales, profitability, patient experience, operational, and productivity targets
• Convert company strategy and initiatives into clear regional and market-level action plans, ensuring consistent execution while allowing leaders to address unique market opportunities and challenges
• Regularly review financial, operational, and customer/patient metrics to identify trends, opportunities, and performance gaps. Partner with Regional Managers to develop and execute corrective action plans
• Partner with senior leadership to support new store openings, market expansion, acquisitions, talent planning, and other strategic growth initiatives
• Ensure Regional Managers and Market Managers effectively manage staffing, labor, scheduling, productivity, compliance, and other operational priorities within their markets
• Work individually and cross functionally to develop and execute merchandise, operational, and customer service strategies to deliver planned sales, gross margin and EBITDA results
• Execute quality center visits to validate patient/customer service standards are consistently delivered
• Observe and review individual optician performance during visits and provide appropriate feedback and coaching
• Establish and monitor center operations guidelines (i.e., appointment monitoring, daily system balancing, government, and state regulations)
• Ensure operational exceptions are addressed and resolved
• Facilitate ongoing process improvement
• Stay up to date on competition within the region

Leadership:

• Provide strategic leadership, coaching, and accountability to Regional Managers and Market Managers, ensuring they have clear expectations, priorities, and the tools necessary to lead their markets effectively
• Serve as a key change leader by communicating organizational priorities, creating alignment, addressing resistance, and ensuring initiatives are successfully adopted across the region
• Create a culture of ownership and follow-through by setting clear standards, monitoring performance, addressing gaps, and ensuring leaders take timely action to improve results
• Identify, develop, and retain high-potential leaders across the region. Build strong succession plans and ensure leadership talent is prepared to support current and future growth
• Collaborate with Operations, Professional Services, HR, Training, Finance, Marketing, Supply Chain, and other functional partners to remove barriers and support regional performance
• Maintain regular market and store presence to observe execution, connect with leaders and teams, validate business priorities, and identify opportunities for improvement
• Provide realistic parameters that allow teams to make decisions with accountability
• Is accessible to teams and the rest of the organization
• Provide proactive communication to centers and corporate partners
• Resolve customer concerns promptly and positively
• Work closely with Human Resources to develop and implement solutions related to staffing, recruiting, performance management, and employee relations
• Oversee General Manager In Training program to develop bench strength within the region
• Regularly evaluate optometrist, manager, and optician talent for current and future bench strength

Financial acumen:

• Ability to understand financial statements, business drivers, KPIs, labor, productivity, and profitability and use data to drive decisions
• Oversee financial operations of region by driving sales and managing expenses to plan
• Identify exceptions and put appropriate action plans in place for resolution
• Assist in accurate budget submission

Compliance:

• Ensure centers follow applicable Federal and State laws including HIPAA, Fraud, Waste and Abuse, and Federally and State funded vision plan regulations
• Ensure all applicable Optometric and Optician laws are followed
• Ensure centers adhere to all company safety standards, policies, and procedures

Minimum knowledge, experience & skills requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in relevant business field or equivalent work experience
• Combination of education and/or equivalent work experience in a related field 5+ years of multi-unit retail management experience
• Optical Manager leadership experience preferred
• Demonstrated ability to coach, develop, challenge, and inspire leaders while building a strong pipeline of future talent
• Demonstrated commitment to delivering an exceptional customer and patient experience while balancing business performance
• Proven ability to lead, coach, and build teammate relationships in an environment of fast change; must be able to direct, and motivate a diverse teammate population
• Strong ability to manage multiple markets, priorities, projects, and competing demands while maintaining focus on the highest-impact opportunities
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify root causes, remove barriers, and develop sustainable solutions
• Able to work collaboratively in a matrix environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership, field leaders, and store teams.
• Strong multi-tasking skills
• Able to thrive within a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of programs

• Ability to effectively communicate at all levels within the organization through written and two-way verbal communication
• Able to sit or stand for extended periods of time
• Able to operate various office equipment (e.g., personal computer, telephone, fax machine, copier, etc.)
• Able to read and write at a high school graduate level
• Able to lift 10 to 20 pounds
• Able to view/read computer screen for extended periods of time
• Able to work normal and/or extended (evenings, nights, and weekends) office hours to meet established deadlines
• Able to travel independently to support Company objectives and personal development
