About Visit Seattle
Visit Seattle is a private, non-profit destination marketing organization (DMO) serving Seattle and King County. We exist to responsibly grow the visitor economy for the benefit of the community.
About the Role
The Marketing Content Specialist plays a critically important role in Visit Seattle’s Marketing department. A successful candidate for this role is a collaborator, supporter, communicator, organizer, learner, and part of an innovative team of creatives and content experts. This role contributes to Visit Seattle’s success by helping the marketing team deliver world-class campaigns that promote Seattle as a global destination.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the creative concepting, development, and execution (in collaboration with our publishing partner agency) of Visit Seattle’s bi-annually printed Official Visitors’ Guide (OVG) and walking maps. Leverage these assets to build out digital content, widening our distribution and reach.
- Support marketing collateral and campaign content with copywriting, proofreading, design review, and creative asset sourcing, ensuring an outstanding experience for our visitors, clients, and local stakeholders.
- Support ongoing updates of the marketing content style guide.
- Execute the department’s overall content strategy, including supporting SEO/AEO/GEO efforts and AI features, and making content updates to the site.
- Manage imports and listings for our comprehensive online Calendar of Events; extend this content further through printed OVGs, Seattle Localist newsletters, and the Visit Seattle website.
- Lead the editorial development and production of marketing e-mails, including quarterly meeting planner communications, notifications for key events including Seattle Museum Month and the Refract glass art festival, and Seattle Localist newsletter.
- Review and manage the company’s email program to optimize open rates and overall engagement.
- Manage the inventory of creative assets, including photos and videos, to provide streamlined image support for the organization.
- Assist in daily management and maintenance of web, email, print, and other miscellaneous items.
- Stay up to date on social media, marketing, and advertising trends and best practices to ensure the marketing department stays inspired. Conduct competitive analysis of other destination marketing organizations and travel sites.
- Contribute to a positive, productive, safe, respectful, professional work environment and culture.
Qualifications
- A minimum of four years of experience in marketing, with a focus on content and campaign development. Relevant related experience may also be considered.
- Knowledge of the travel/hospitality industry preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, as well as HTML.
- Familiarity with content management systems, email and communication clients, and collaboration and workflow platforms (WordPress, MailChimp, Monday.com, etc.).
- Ability to collaborate with diverse colleagues, multiple projects, and priorities at the same time with poise and efficiency.
- Ideally a background or deep interest in content strategy and content strategy tools and tactics; familiarity with user experience best practices and web accessibility.
- Familiarity with user-generated content (UGC) and interest or experience with tools for content development and audience engagement, including AI tools.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze information, identify opportunities, and develop creative solutions.
- Able to work efficiently and accurately with minimal supervision.
- Self-starter who takes initiative, showing consistent follow-through, attention to detail, and reliability.
- Strong service approach with both internal and external customers.
- Strong writing and proofing skills.
- Consistently positive attitude and professional demeanor.
