Bus Driver Instructor

Application Deadline: July 31, 2026 Work Months: Twelve (12) Months Hours: 8 hours per day, 5 days a week Salary: $28.02 - $34.04 per hour Job Description: Bus Driver Instructor Under general supervision and direction of the Transportation Director, the Training Supervisor is responsible for both behind-the-wheel and classroom training programs; assists in the investigation of accidents and/or personnel involving district vehicles; prepares records and reports on training activities including original trainee records and ongoing records for all school bus drivers pursuant to requirements mandated by law; operate a school bus as required. Minimum Qualifications Completion of twelfth grade or equivalent; Completion of California Department of Education (CDE) School Bus Driver Instructor Course Certification. Valid California Class A or B operator's license. Current California State Certified Bus Driver Instructor Certificate with automatic transmission restriction. Certification and Training Requirements Certified by the California Department of Education (CDE) and California High Patrol to provide classroom and behind-the-wheel training. Provide training programs for new and veteran drivers, develop training materials that comply with all vehicle codes, regulations and bus safety techniques. Physical Requirements Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling; some climbing and balancing; stooping, kneeling, crouching; reaching, handling, touching. Manual dexterity to operate a bus, climb steps, reach overhead. Ability to sit at a desk or conference table for extended periods; see, read, understand printed matter and computer screens; hear and understand speech at normal levels; speak in audible tones. Upon Conditional Offer of Employment Valid California Class A or B operator's license. DOJ and FBI Criminal Background Check. TB Test within the last 60 days. Complete district Mandated Reporter training, Sexual Harassment training, etc. Must obtain and maintain a First Aid/CPR Certificate (In-Person Training ONLY). Pre-Employment Physical Evaluation conducted through the District (Minimum 50 pounds).
