In this role, you'll handle everything from taking orders and prepping product to keeping the department stocked and the work area spotless.If you enjoy a fast-paced environment, like working with food, and take pride in delivering great service every shift, we'd love to have you on our team.What You'll DoNo two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:Provide prompt, friendly customer service, greeting customers with a smile, learning their names, and making every interaction a positive oneTake customer orders at the Market Grille Express counter and answer the telephone promptly, providing helpful service including taking product ordersReview daily orders, anticipate product needs, and prepare and replenish product as necessaryPull product from the cooler or freezer to prepare for cooking and ensure an adequate food supply is ready and on handHandle food safely and review the status and appearance of food for freshness throughout your shiftMaintain a clean, sanitary work area at all timesCheck in product, put product away, and review invoices as neededRun the department register, receive payment, and make change where applicableRemove trash in a timely manner and wash dishes as necessaryPrice and order product and deliver orders as neededWork with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environmentAssist in other areas of the store as needed and take on special projects as assignedMaintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelinesReport to work when scheduled and on timeYour SkillsTo be successful, you'll need to be able to:Follow detailed written or verbal instructions and work through tasks with a few concrete variablesPerform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accuratelyUnderstand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writingWork effectively as part of a team to deliver a great customer experienceReporting RelationshipsAccountable and Reports to: Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home; Food Service Director; Market Grille Department Manager; Assistant Market Grille Department Manager; Service ManagersEducation and ExperienceNo education requirement; we will provide all the training you need to succeedSix months or less of similar or related work experience; prior food service experience is a plusPhysical RequirementsFrequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areasWhere applicable to the role: ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparationWhere applicable to the role: exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipmentWhere applicable to the role: ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standardsPerform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation dutiesWorking EnvironmentThis is a fast-paced role in a store kitchen environment where you'll be on your feet throughout your shift. You'll have exposure to noise, equipment movement hazards, temperature extremes, and cleaning chemicals or solvents. Safety is always a priority, and training is provided to help ensure a safe and supportive work environment.The anticipated hourly starting wage for this position is $16.00 to $20.00 depending on experience.
