Surgical Technologists, sometimes called “scrub techs,” assist with procedures under the supervision of surgeons and RNs, helping ensure quality patient care before, during and after the operative procedure. In this role, you will perform a variety of tasks, such as checking supplies and equipment, setting up sterile tables, passing instruments to the surgeon and sterilizing instruments after procedures. This position offers a unique way to gain hands‑on experience in an operative environment while making a lasting difference in the lives of patients and caregivers every day. Ultimately, surgery could not be possible without your support. Shift Schedule A caregiver in this position works part‑time evening shifts from 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. + on‑call with every other weekend, 2 summer and 2 winter holiday requirements. Responsibilities Perform scrub functions and assist in circulating functions under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN). Set up the sterile table and ensure appropriate supplies, drugs and equipment are available. Assist RN in counting all sponges, instruments, etc. at appropriate times during surgery. Assist in gowning and gloving surgical team members and draping patients. Ensure aseptic condition is maintained by the scrubbed surgical team through the procedure. Participate in the intraoperative “timeout.” Collect, identify and label specimens removed during surgical procedures and give specimens to circulator for disposition. Minimum Qualifications Successful completion of a Surgical Technology Program accredited through CCAAHEP or ABHES OR Certification as a Surgical Technologist (TS-C or CST) OR completion of a military Surgical Technology Program. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA). Preferred Qualifications Surgical Technologist Certification from an accredited Surgical Technology Program. Scrubbing experience. Physical Requirements Requires full range of body motion including ability to lift and/or bear the weight of 100 pounds with assistance, or more while pulling, lifting, pushing and transferring patients to and from various apparatus; regularly pushes moderate to heavy weight of 100 pounds or more. Exposure to body fluids. Must be available for flexible scheduling according to the needs of the surgical area. Floating may be expected per assignment policies within the surgical support department. Personal Protective Equipment Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required. Pay Range Minimum hourly: $25.25 Maximum hourly: $34.15 The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range displayed does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.).
