If you know homebuilding accounting, I want to talk to you!

I'm looking for an experienced Senior Accountant who understands the unique accounting that happens behind the scenes in residential homebuilding.

This isn't just a role focused on journal entries and reconciliations. You'll be working with the financial side of active homebuilding projects , digging into job costs, monitoring construction activity, supporting closings, and helping ensure the numbers behind each project are accurate.

If you've worked for a homebuilder, residential developer, or similar construction environment , this could be a great opportunity to put that experience to work!

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

You'll have your hands in several areas of accounting, including:

️ Job Cost & Construction Accounting

• Track and reconcile project and construction costs
• Review budgets against actual spending and investigate variances
• Review invoices, commitments and change orders
• Assist with construction draws and related documentation
• Make sure costs are properly coded and allocated

Month-End & Financial Reporting

• Prepare journal entries, accruals and account reconciliations
• Play an active role in month-end and year-end close
• Prepare financial reporting and supporting schedules
• Research discrepancies and keep accounts accurate and audit-ready

Home Closings & Inventory

• Support the accounting surrounding new home closings
• Handle revenue and cost-of-sales activity
• Reconcile escrow and settlement information
• Track WIP, inventory, land and development costs
• Assist with cost-to-complete and inventory analysis

✅ Controls & Compliance

• Assist with audit and tax support
• Help maintain strong accounting processes and documentation
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiencies and controls
• Provide support and guidance to other accounting team members when needed

WHAT WILL MAKE YOU STAND OUT

We're especially interested in someone with:

✅ 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
✅ Residential homebuilding, construction or real estate development accounting experience
✅ Strong knowledge of job cost/construction accounting
✅ Experience with WIP, retention and project-related accounting
✅ Strong Excel skills
✅ Ability to manage deadlines and multiple priorities
✅ A collaborative personality and ability to work with both accounting and operational teams

SYSTEM EXPERIENCE

Experience with homebuilding or construction accounting systems is highly valuable.

Trueline/AS400 experience is strongly desired , along with experience using systems such as:

• Yardi
• NX
• Sage 300 CRE
• Viewpoint/Vista
• Foundation
• BuilderMT
• Similar construction/homebuilding ERP systems

⭐ EXTRA POINTS IF YOU HAVE:

➕ New home closing and escrow reconciliation experience
➕ Construction lender draw experience
➕ ASC 606/revenue recognition knowledge
➕ California construction accounting experience
➕ Multi-entity or partnership accounting
➕ CPA or progress toward your CPA
