divh2Seasonal Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)/h2pThe Seasonal Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) provides prompt, professional emergency medical care and first aid services to guests, staff, volunteers, and contractors at the Pittsburgh Zoo Aquarium. This role supports a safe, welcoming, and responsive environment within a high-volume public attraction and works collaboratively with Zoo Operations, Security, and external emergency responders./pulliRespond quickly and professionally to medical emergencies and first aid needs across Zoo grounds./liliProvide basic life support, emergency medical care, and first aid in accordance with EMT certification standards and established protocols./liliAssess medical situations, determine appropriate levels of care, and make sound decisions in high-stress and public-facing environments./liliCoordinate with local emergency medical services, fire, and police departments when advanced medical intervention or transport is required./liliMaintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation of all medical incidents and treatments rendered./liliMonitor, maintain, and restock medical supplies, first aid stations, and emergency response equipment./liliCommunicate clearly, compassionately, and professionally with guests, families, and staff during medical incidents./liliSupport Zoo-wide safety initiatives, emergency preparedness drills, special events, and peak attendance operations./liliIs familiar with emergency management and contingency planning. Participate in regular drills./liliHas the ability to serve as a solo medical provider in an emergency situation./li/ulpServes as a dual hybrid security officer/EMT./pulliProfessional judgment and decision-making under pressure/liliClear communication and customer service skills/liliAbility to remain calm and composed in emergency situations/liliReliability, teamwork, and adherence to safety protocols/liliAccuracy and completeness of incident documentation/li/ululliCurrent EMT certification (Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or eligible for reciprocity)./liliCurrent CPR/AED and First Aid certification. Previous EMT experience required; experience in public venues, events, or high-traffic environments preferred./liliStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse populations./liliKnowledge of emergency response procedures, first aid practices, and patient assessment techniques./liliAbility to work weekdays during the summer season and evenings/weekends during peak and special event seasons./li/ululliThe ability to stand and walk for long periods of time on even and uneven surfaces. The ability to lift to 50 lbs. without assistance. The ability to sit, squat and walk for extended periods. The ability to work in normal and inclement weather conditions./liliAvailable to work regular days, nights, weekends and holidays as needed./li/ul/div
