Junior Data Engineer

Salary: $60,000 - 75,000 per year

Requirements:

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field 1–3 years of experience in data engineering, data analysis, software development, or a related technical area; internships, co-ops, and relevant academic projects may be considered Working knowledge of Python and SQL Familiarity with Git and basic software development practices Basic understanding of databases, data structures, data processing, and software development concepts Ability to obtain a Federal Public Trust Clearance Exposure to JavaScript or web application development Coursework, training, or hands-on exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Python plotting libraries Basic understanding of Agile/Scrum development methodologies Exposure to relational databases and SQL-based data querying Exposure to APIs, ETL/ELT processes, or data integration concepts Exposure to Python data libraries such as Pandas or NumPy is desirable Exposure to machine learning concepts or workflows is desirable Interest in data analytics, fraud detection, compliance, or working with regulated data Ability to follow established technical, security, and development practices and apply feedback from senior team members Responsibilities:

Support senior team members in meetings with Government clients to understand business needs, data sources, and analysis plans Assist data scientists and senior engineers with developing, testing, and maintaining data pipelines for data engineering and machine learning Help software developers build and maintain tools for data visualization and analysis Assist with developing and testing responsive web applications Write clean, maintainable Python and JavaScript code with guidance from senior engineers Participate in code reviews and learn and apply security and performance best practices Take part in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and collaborate with cross-functional teams Write and run unit and integration tests in accordance with established development practices Help debug and troubleshoot code and maintain technical documentation Use Git for version control and support application deployment processes Assist with production support and application health monitoring Gather, clean, and explore datasets to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies Support exploratory data analysis and data mining using government data sources Help prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations that summarize analytical findings Technologies:
