Job Title: Production Technician

Job Description

The Production Technician owns assigned production work from start to finish, completing mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical assembly and testing while meeting production schedules and maintaining high quality and safety standards. You will build and validate complex assemblies, support production changes and prototype builds, and provide clear feedback to improve manufacturing processes and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Own assigned production work from start to finish, ensuring all assemblies and tests are completed on schedule, meet quality, safety, and manufacturing standards, pass required inspections, and are properly documented.
• Identify production blockers, escalate issues promptly, and follow through until the work is successfully completed.
• Assemble mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical systems using approved Manufacturing Process Instructions (MPIs) and specifications, providing feedback when documentation or processes need clarification or improvement.
• Perform complex electro-mechanical assembly tasks independently, working from schematics, drawings, verbal instructions, and written instructions.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and assembly issues, performing rework, repairs, and validation activities while understanding product functionality and system interactions.
• Follow detailed Manufacturing Process Instructions and strict safety procedures when building assemblies and performing tests.
• Support production changes, prototype builds, and validation activities by quickly learning new processes and adapting to changing requirements.
• Provide accurate manufacturing feedback to support continuous improvement of processes, tools, and documentation.
• Perform PCBA assembly and wiring, including cable and harness routing, while adhering to strict manufacturing standards.
• Use hand and power tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, torque drivers, drills, calipers, and measurement tools to perform mechanical assembly tasks.
• Apply torque-controlled fastening techniques to ensure reliable and consistent assembly quality.
• Read and interpret basic blueprints, schematics, SOPs, and non-technical instructions, and follow directions accurately.
• Maintain strong attention to detail and a focus on product quality throughout all assembly and testing activities.
• Use basic computer applications (MacOS or Microsoft) to access work instructions, record data, and document work performed.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 3–4+ years of experience in prototyping, assembly, or manufacturing of electro-mechanical components in a production or manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical PCBA assembly and electro-mechanical assembly tasks.
• Assembly experience using hand and power tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, torque drivers, drills, calipers, and other measurement tools.
• Strong wiring and cabling experience, including cable and wire routing and harness assembly.
• Ability to read and follow basic SOPs, MPIs, diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and non-technical instructions.
• Basic understanding of electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems and how they interact within complex assemblies.
• Demonstrated ability to follow manufacturing protocols and strict safety procedures.
• Strong problem-solving skills, good judgment, and proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
• High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality in production and assembly work.
• Basic computer skills, including use of MacOS or Microsoft-based systems for documentation and instruction access.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Intermediate-level experience in electro-mechanical or manufacturing assembly is preferred.
• Experience assembling avionics components such as PCB assemblies and cable harnesses is highly valued.
• Fabrication or assembly experience with sheet metal and tube assemblies is a plus.
• Soldering experience is a nice-to-have and will be considered an asset.
• Ability to provide clear, constructive feedback on manufacturing processes and documentation to support continuous improvement.
• No specific education preference; candidates from diverse educational backgrounds are welcome as long as experience requirements are met.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of South San Francisco, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $34.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
