Senior Cloud Engineer

Senior Cloud Engineer Remote role based in Dallas, TX. Responsibilities Develop and maintain Chef cookbooks, recipes, and policies to enforce Linux OS baseline configurations and compliance. Automate onboarding of Linux systems into Chef, including bootstrapping, configuration, and compliance validation. Own the monthly golden image lifecycle (patching, hardening, validation, versioning, and deprecation). Build and manage AWS AMIs and Azure Managed Images / Shared Image Gallery (SIG) across accounts and regions. Ensure images include required monitoring, security, EDR, and vulnerability scanning agents. Design and maintain reusable Terraform modules for AWS infrastructure with secure defaults and standards. Integrate image engineering and IaC workflows into CI/CD pipelines, with testing, validation, and quality controls. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience). 5–8+ years of hands‑on experience in Linux systems engineering and OS hardening. Proven experience in infrastructure automation and configuration management. Strong experience with cloud platforms: AWS and Azure. Hands‑on expertise with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD automation. Solid working knowledge of Linux OS internals, security baselines, and compliance. Proficiency with Chef and Terraform; AWS certification is a plus. Compensation Base compensation range: $70,176 - $170,040.
