Job Title: General Labor – Construction Assembly

Job Description

This role focuses on construction labor in an industrial wood shop environment, assembling using hand and power tools. You work on a repetitive assembly line, lifting up to 70 pounds throughout the day, and ensuring each truss is built accurately according to laser-projected patterns. The position requires frequent bending, twisting, and standing on your feet for 8–10 hours per shift while performing manual labor in a hot, dusty manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

• Assemble wood products on an assembly line using hand and power tools, including hammers and nail guns.
• Follow laser-projected images and patterns on the work table to position boards and brackets correctly for each truss.
• Ensure all wood pieces, brackets, and fasteners fit into the correct location to meet quality and accuracy standards.
• Run finished trusses through a press to secure all components and complete the assembly process.
• Perform repetitive truss-building tasks, often constructing the same truss design multiple times throughout the day.
• Lift and move boards weighing up to 70 pounds repeatedly over the course of the shift.
• Climb up onto and down from a waist-high surface table 50–100 times per day to access and assemble trusses.
• Stand, bend, twist, and perform manual labor on your feet for 8–10 hours per shift in an industrial environment.
• Work safely and efficiently in a dusty wood shop, maintaining awareness of surroundings and equipment.
• Support production, loading, and unloading activities as needed within a typical manufacturing environment.

Essential Skills

• Construction-related experience, such as roofing, siding, or other hands-on construction work.
• Comfort and experience working with hand tools and power tools, including hammers and nail guns.
• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds repetitively throughout the day.
• Ability to stand on your feet for 8–10 hours per shift while performing manual labor.
• Ability to repeatedly get up and down from a waist-high table 50–100 times per day to assemble trusses.
• Experience in general labor, production, or manufacturing environments.
• Comfort working in a hot, dusty industrial or wood shop environment.
• Ability to follow visual patterns and instructions to ensure accurate assembly of trusses.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in construction or roofing is strongly preferred.
• Experience with siding, drywall, concrete, or other construction trades is beneficial.
• Agricultural or farm work experience that involves manual labor and working with tools can be a good fit.
• Experience in shipboard work, loading and unloading, or general labor roles in manufacturing or industrial settings.
• Familiarity with truss assembly or working with trusses is an advantage.
• Experience using tape measures and basic measurement tools in an assembly or construction environment.
• Comfort working as part of a small team in a production or assembly line setting.
• Manual labor experience in the manufacturing industry, including work with wood materials and hand/power tools.

Work Environment

The role is based in a wood shop within a typical manufacturing environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of DEER CREEK, IL.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
