Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If it is determined an applicant does not meet the Minimum Qualifications, the candidate will be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible to be hired for the position. Candidates who have been withheld may file an appeal with the State Personnel Board.

Applicants who completed their education outside of the US (with foreign degrees/transcripts) must obtain and submit verification of U.S. course/degree equivalency. Foreign education credential evaluation services can be found at NACES | National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.

Candidates new to CDCR/CCHCS are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, as well as a Tuberculosis test/evaluation prior to appointment, followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.

Statement of Qualifications

STATEMENT OF QUALIFICATIONS INSTRUCTIONS:

Read the instructions carefully as you will be rated on your ability to follow instructions in addition to how well your experience and knowledge meet the desirable qualifications of the position. Answer all questions clearly and concisely, with proper grammar, as these factors are considered in the evaluation process.

SOQ Formatting must:

· Be typewritten in Arial 12-point font, with one-inch margins single spaced

· Be no longer than two (2) pages in length

· Include your name and Job Control # in the upper left-hand corner

· Be numbered in the same order as the required content below

· SOQ questions must be written out, and the answer must be completed below the question.

1. You are a newly appointed Correctional Counselor I and your assigned caseload is six months behind. What do you do to get caught up while ensuring any newly assigned work is completed on time?

2. Describe your understanding of the Classification process and the role/responsibility of the Correctional Counselor I.
