Technical & Quality Manager

The Technical & Quality Manager will serve as the site's technical subject matter expert (SME) on process, process controls, and quality testing/standards. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, this role is responsible for all quality, analytical, and process-related activities at the plant. The position ensures compliance with industry standards, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and supports both internal teams and external customers in achieving the highest standards of product quality, compliance, and performance. Key Responsibilities: Promote a strong safety culture and apply technical expertise to reduce workplace hazards and risks. Ensure compliance with product specifications, ASTM and UL standards, and quality management system requirements. Oversee raw material quality programs, incoming inspections, testing, CAPAs, documentation, and audit readiness. Lead plant quality initiatives to improve product performance, reduce defects, and ensure customer satisfaction. Serve as the site SME for manufacturing processes, process controls, and product testing. Drive process improvement initiatives that reduce variation, minimize waste, increase efficiency, and improve product quality. Lead process capability studies, technical troubleshooting, root cause investigations, and implementation of corrective actions. Manage process improvement, raw material, and new product trials from planning through reporting and implementation. Act as the primary technical resource for customers and Sales teams regarding product performance, quality concerns, and complaint resolution. Participate in customer visits, technical reviews, supplier audits, and collaborative problem-solving activities. Lead, coach, and develop the Technical & Quality team while monitoring quality and process performance metrics. Champion continuous improvement initiatives and serve as the site's Quality & Process Control Pillar Leader. Is this job for you ? Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, or a related technical discipline preferred. Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in manufacturing quality, process engineering, or a related technical role. Experience within the building products, construction materials, or roofing industry strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience leading quality systems, process improvement initiatives, and continuous improvement programs. Prior people leadership experience with responsibility for coaching, developing, and managing technical or quality teams. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong knowledge of ASTM and UL standards, quality management systems, and quality assurance principles. Expertise in process control methodologies, including Statistical Process Control (SPC), Six Sigma, and root cause analysis techniques. Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders across operations, engineering, quality, and commercial functions. Strong customer-facing skills with experience managing technical discussions, resolving quality concerns, and supporting customer relationships. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills, including technical reporting and presentation capabilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining a focus on safety, quality, and operational performance. Leadership Requirements: People Manager responsible for leading and developing a Technical & Quality team. Direct management responsibility for approximately 3-6 employees, with additional indirect leadership responsibilities. We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer potential candidates. Provided is the national pay range for this position which is $102,000 to $158,000 per year. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 13% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $115,200 to $178,000.
