Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: Active nursing license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS required; PALS preferred Must-Have: At least 2 years of experience and previous travel experience preferred Description: This position is for a Medical Surgical Registered Nurse. The unit provides care for patients with various medical conditions. Common diagnoses include pneumonia, heart failure, sepsis, COPD, urologic conditions, and surgical cases. Occasionally, pediatric respiratory illnesses may also be treated. The nurse-to-patient ratio during the day is typically 1:5. Overnight, the ratio can range from 1:5 to 1:6. Patient care technicians will be available to assist with nursing care tasks. Daytime patient care technician ratios are approximately 1:8-10. Evening ratios can be about 1:9-10, while nights may have 1 technician for every 10-12 patients. Registered Nurses are expected to monitor telemetry strips and may need to troubleshoot specific respiratory equipment. Collaboration and communication with patient care technicians are emphasized. The schedule includes weekends and holidays as part of the rotation. Low Census protocols require evaluation every 4 hours. Floating to other areas may be necessary during shifts. Nurses may be required to float to other locations if needed, with prior notice given before a shift. The dress code requires solid color scrubs without prints. Unit-specific orientation is provided to ensure readiness. This is a comprehensive role that entails direct patient care in an acute setting.
