Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provides specialized perioperative nursing care to patients across all age groups in the surgical environment. Ensures patient safety, assists with surgical procedures, and maintains optimal operating room readiness.

Responsibilities:

• Perform pre-operative assessments, preparing patients for surgery in collaboration with anesthesia providers.
• Ensure all surgical documentation, including consents and checklists, is complete prior to procedures.
• Prepare and maintain sterile surgical environments, including draping, positioning, and equipment setup.
• Demonstrate proficient knowledge of surgical instruments, equipment, and specimen handling.
• Monitor patient vital signs and behavior intra-operatively, promptly addressing changes and communicating with the surgical team.
• Assist in patient education regarding perioperative procedures and pain management.

Qualifications:

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program with an Associate, Diploma, or BSN degree.
• Current RN license in Idaho or a compact state at the time of hire.
• Minimum of several years of surgical nursing experience (preferred).
• BLS certification required upon hire; ACLS certification within one year of hire.
• Ability to utilize high-level reasoning to assess patient needs and adjust care plans accordingly.
