$60 - $90 per hourAbout the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to support the delivery of large-scale, mission-critical data center construction projects across North America. This role will be responsible for overseeing onsite construction activities, commissioning efforts, and project turnover while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong work history in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems, data center or critical infrastructure construction, and project management. This individual will serve as a key liaison between contractors, consultants, vendors, and internal stakeholders while driving project execution from planning through closeout.
This is an excellent opportunity for a construction professional who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys solving complex technical challenges, and has a passion for delivering critical infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage onsite construction, commissioning, and turnover activities for data center projects.
- Support the Lead Construction Manager with contractor, consultant, designer, and vendor management.
- Maintain ownership of construction scopes, including retrofits of existing data halls and buildouts of new data center spaces.
- Coordinate project activities between contractors, consultants, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure successful execution.
- Provide onsite construction leadership by building and maintaining strong relationships with project teams, vendors, consultants, and contractors.
- Identify opportunities to improve project delivery through innovation, process improvements, efficiency initiatives, and accountability.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop project scopes, sequencing strategies, and execution plans.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of project schedules in partnership with Project Controls and Scheduling teams.
- Manage cost changes and support negotiations to achieve the best value while maintaining project schedule and budget objectives.
- Monitor project schedules and associated risks, proactively identifying mitigation strategies to ensure predictable delivery timelines.
- Conduct monthly Work-In-Place (WIP) reviews and routine site walks to validate construction progress, support invoicing, and confirm readiness for turnover.
- Manage contractor and designer relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assist with the development of capital project budgets and provide Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) construction cost estimates.
- Manage monthly capital expenditure forecasting and track all project-related costs.
- Analyze weekly project status reports and develop action plans related to schedule, financial performance, quality, and construction progress.
- Oversee Method of Procedures (MOPs) for retrofit or remediation work within live data center environments.
- Facilitate coordination between contractors, quality assurance teams, commissioning teams, and project stakeholders.
- Lead project closeout activities and ensure all turnover requirements are completed successfully.
- Escalate critical project risks and issues to leadership in a timely manner.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, collaboration, and accountability.
- Champion and support an industry-leading safety culture across all project sites.
- Travel approximately 50% to support project activities at various locations across North America.
Required Skills & Experience

- Demonstrated expertise in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems.
- Excellent relationship-building, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong understanding of construction scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
- Ability to identify and resolve construction and technical issues in the field.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously across different phases of delivery.
- Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, telecommunications, and connectivity infrastructure systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- 7–10 years of professional experience in construction, operations, maintenance, project planning, or related disciplines.
- 7–10 years of direct experience supporting the design, construction, or commissioning of data centers, mission-critical facilities, or critical infrastructure projects.
- Experience managing both new construction and retrofit projects within operational environments.
- Knowledge of CPM scheduling methodologies and experience working with Primavera P6.
- Familiarity with commissioning processes for mission-critical infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
What We're Looking For
The successful candidate will be a hands-on Construction Manager with a strong MEP work history who can effectively lead project execution, build trusted relationships, and solve complex construction challenges. Experience within data center, mission-critical, or critical infrastructure environments is highly desired. This role requires a proactive leader who can manage competing priorities, mitigate risks, and consistently drive successful project outcomes.
