POLICE OFFICER - Full Time

Position Summary Employees in this position are assigned to a variety of duties in the City Police Department. Each duty is related to protecting life and property and securing the well‑being of the citizens of the City of Concord. The officer is responsible for the enforcement of ordinances, state and federal statutes, and other regulations for which the Police Department is responsible. Duties include patrol, investigations, drug enforcement, and youth services. The department practices a community‑based policing operation. An incumbent may be designated "Master Police Officer." Work Hours and Salary Variable schedule: 4 days on, 2 days off. Starting annual salary: $67,995.20 for Academy/Non‑Certified Officers (approximately $32.69/hr); $71,427.20–$80,246.40 for Lateral‑Certified Officers (approximately $34.34–$38.58/hr). The current maximum annual salary is $107,441.36. Key Responsibilities The officer performs a broad range of duties, including patrolling city streets, responding to calls for service, conducting investigations, enforcing drug laws, and providing youth services. Officers are expected to be able to perform any of these duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications A high school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge acquired through a minimum of 60 credit hours in an associate or bachelor’s educational program. Two years of full‑time experience as a certified police officer at the time of appointment. Four years of active full‑time military service with an honorable discharge (National Guard service does not count). Having a bachelor’s degree is desirable. Only individuals who have met the minimum qualifications and submitted an application will be selected for testing and interview.
