Job Summary:

As the Fielder I, II, III , you will ultimately be responsible for collecting accurate field data, validating existing utility infrastructure, and supporting engineering design through comprehensive aerial and underground field surveys. You will coordinate field inspections, document existing conditions, and deliver accurate field information that enables efficient network design and construction. As the Fielder I, II, III, your customers are engineering teams, construction teams, telecommunications clients, utility providers, and property owners, and you will make meaningful contributions to the company's success through accurate field documentation, quality data collection, and safe work practices.

Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):

• Collect relevant utility pole information and accurately document existing measurements, attachments, and equipment
• Perform utility pole identification, inspection, and classification
• Gather aerial attachment heights and clearances while identifying potential clearance violations
• Determine suitable locations for new above-ground facilities and telecommunications equipment
• Conduct underground and buried cable layout surveys
• Develop accurate fiber optic network construction surveys
• Determine existing and proposed fiber optic cable routes
• Inspect completed construction work, including cable placement and fiber installations
• Accurately document new construction route opportunities and engineering recommendations
• Maintain personal vehicles, equipment, and tools in accordance with company safety standards
• Conduct all work in accordance with established safety policies and procedures
• Capture photographs of job sites, utility poles, facilities, and surrounding infrastructure
• Prepare hand sketches and field notes to support engineering design
• Upload, organize, and maintain field documentation, photographs, sketches, and reports
• Apply value engineering principles when evaluating construction, installation, and future maintenance considerations
• Open hand holes to inspect underground facilities, fiber placement, and infrastructure conditions
• Assist with preparation of field documentation and reporting
• Attend field meetings with clients, government agencies, and construction contractors
• Operate and maintain field equipment including laptops, tablets, height sticks, cameras, and personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Travel daily to assigned project sites using a company or personal vehicle
• Interface with customers, landowners, and stakeholders as required
• Travel outside the assigned market when business needs require
• Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs

Required Qualifications:

Education, Licensing, and Certifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required
• Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record

Experience

• Experience performing field surveys, utility inspections, or telecommunications field operations preferred
• Experience within engineering, telecommunications, construction, architecture, or utility industries preferred
• Knowledge of telecommunications engineering standards and construction techniques preferred
• Basic knowledge of Make-Ready construction preferred

• Ability to follow company safety standards and procedures
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Acrobat, and Google Earth
• Ability to upload, edit, and maintain project documentation using project management software
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies, software applications, and databases
• Ability to interact professionally with customers, landowners, utility companies, and project stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics
• Comprehensive understanding of telecommunications design principles
• Experience supporting outside plant (OSP) engineering and construction
• Experience with utility pole inspections and field engineering activities

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, stoop, and climb for extended periods
• Ability to walk long distances across uneven terrain
• Ability to look upward for extended periods while inspecting aerial facilities
• Ability to tolerate outdoor work in varying weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to sit and drive for extended periods
• Good vision and depth perception (corrective lenses acceptable)
• Ability to travel daily and occasionally outside the assigned market as business needs require
