Estimator

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to prepare accurate, commercially viable cost estimates for a range of projects. You will review drawings, specifications, scopes of work and tender documentation to develop detailed pricing submissions that support informed business decisions and successful project delivery. The role will involve working closely with project managers, procurement teams, suppliers, subcontractors and clients to clarify requirements, identify risks and ensure all estimates are comprehensive and competitive.


Your responsibilities will include preparing bills of quantities, cost plans, tenders and pricing schedules; obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations; measuring materials, labour, plant and equipment requirements; and maintaining up-to-date cost databases. You will analyse project information, highlight exclusions and assumptions, assess variations and contribute to value engineering exercises where appropriate. You will also assist with tender reviews, ensure submissions are completed within agreed deadlines, and maintain clear records of estimating activity and commercial decisions.


The successful candidate will have proven experience in an estimating, quantity surveying or commercial role, ideally within construction, engineering, manufacturing or a related sector. Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills are essential, along with excellent attention to detail and the ability to interpret technical drawings and contract documentation. You should be confident using estimating, spreadsheet and project management software, and able to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders. A proactive approach, sound commercial judgement and the ability to manage multiple deadlines are required. Relevant technical or professional qualifications are desirable, although equivalent practical experience will be considered.
