Physician Assistant Fellow

The Physician Assistant Fellow is joining DFCI in a one-year Physician Assistant post-graduate training program. The Physician Assistant Fellow has completed PA school and is a certified Physician Assistant. The Physician Assistant Fellow uses clinical and academic skills in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of patients with cancer or hematologic disorders. The Fellow joins DFCI for dedicated mentorship in oncology through a program that will include didactic and clinical training outlined by the PA Fellowship Director.

Responsibilities

• In collaboration with a physician and mentors, thePhysician AssistantFellow manages therapeutic regimens for acute and chronic problems associated with such disease,treatmentand/or conditions.

• ThePhysician AssistantFellowprovidesanticipatory guidance, patient and family education, and psychological and emotional support.

• ThePhysician AssistantFellow has prescriptive authority which includes schedule II through V controlled substances in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

• ThePhysician AssistantFellow takes advantage of formal and informal learning opportunities to strengthen his or her knowledge base in support of the Institute's Mission,Visionand Core Values

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education:

Master’s Degree and successful completion of an AAPA/NCCPA accredited Physician Assistant Studies program are required.  

Minimum Experience:

No professional experience required.

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

Must be NCCPA Certified and licensed to practice as a Physician Assistant in Massachusetts.  Must maintain current DEA and Massachusetts Controlled Substance Licenses, and complete 100 hours of CME according to national and state regulations during each 2 year period of employment.
