Survey Drafting Technician

Location PO Box 1001,Fort Worth, TX, 76101-1001,United States Employee Type Full-Time Non-Exempt This position is based in Houston, TX. Candidates must reside in Houston, TX. or be willing to relocate. The Drafting Technician operates a Computer-Aided Design (CAD) computer system, including creating, updating, and modifying maps, and performs manual drafting. Requires application of well-developed technical knowledge in planning, conducting, and coordinating difficult assignments. Considered an expert within the CAD discipline. The position requires modifying established guidelines and initiating new approaches. Make independent decisions in planning, organizing, and completing technical assignments. Work is reviewed for soundness of judgment but accepted technically as accurate and feasible. Work is assigned in terms of objectives andpriorities,but informed guidance is available outside the specific area of expertise. Processing, organizing, coordinating, and advising on a broad range of project assignments requiring surveying/mapping/data systems/networks knowledge. Support the field surveying, mapping, and document deliverables for agency submittals. Use of various databases in processing field data. Processing and managing point cloud data files. Maintain and manage Field Survey Data systems together with local and wide network operating systems. All duties performed are to be carried out according to the safety of all personnel at the worksite and to perform the task efficiently. Proficient in Excel and financial management tools Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree or certification in drafting or related field preferred). 3+ years Civil 3D experience as a Drafting Technician or similar role. Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD Knowledge of C-102’s, RRC well plats, Lease Outlines, Easements Exhibits, Alignment Sheets, Horizontal Directional Drills, Permits, boundary surveys, Alta Survey all a plus Strong attention to detail and precision in drafting work. Knowledge of industry-specific drafting standards and codes. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to challenges. Time management and organization skills. Willingness to adapt to new software and technologies. Supervisory Responsibility N/A This role offers flexibility, with the ability to work remotely, in the office, or in the field, depending on project requirements. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position applicable to both salaried and hourly employees. Standard working hours are Monday through Friday. However, occasional overtime may be required to meet the needs of the business. This could include evening or weekend work, travel, or participation in company-related events. Flexibility is essential to support business operations and ensure overall organizational success. Travel Travel may be required as needed to meet project and client demands.
