Location: Float position covering eight sites in Rome NY, New Hartford NY, Utica NY, Ilion NY, and Barneveld NY (base site assigned closest to candidate's home) | Schedule: Full-time, on-site, contract with potential for permanent placement; Monday-Friday 5:45am-6:00pm (8-hour shifts, varied) with rotating Saturdays 6:15am-12:30pm (4.5-5.5 hours, varied); projected duration approximately 3 months Overview A healthcare services organization is seeking a Phlebotomist to support laboratory operations across multiple clinic locations in the greater Utica, NY area. This float role is essential to ensuring accurate, timely specimen collection and a smooth patient experience across all age groups, including pediatric patients. What you'll do Perform blood draws and other specimen collections (e.g., urine, fecal) for patients of all ages, including pediatrics Clearly and courteously explain venipuncture and specimen collection procedures to patients Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles Fully understand and follow physicians' orders Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and verify all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for 100% accuracy Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order Package and store specimens according to required temperature and protocol to maintain sample integrity during transport Record maintenance data and perform decontamination procedures Update patient information and collect/store specimens according to established procedures Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations Attend annual department trainings Answer telephone calls and communicate laboratory results to satisfy inquiries Required qualifications Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required in some states Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting minimum 2 years of experience Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite High School Diploma or GED Experience working with patients of all ages, including pediatrics Compensation and benefits Benefits are available Why this role This position offers a contract opportunity with the potential to convert to a permanent role, along with available benefits. #J-18808-Ljbffr Software Placement Group, SPG
