Multimodality Research Associate II

At Houston Methodist, the Multimodality Research Associate II position is a mid-level role responsible for providing both hands‑on technical support and independent oversight to advance laboratory-based research. Reporting to an HMRI Administrator, this position plays a key role in conducting laboratory animal and human research and diagnostics, performing data analysis, and contributing to scientific writing. In addition to performing the duties of the Multimodality Research Associate I, this position is designed for research support, which include protocol development, regulatory compliance with accreditation standards and institutional policies, grant proposal contributions, preliminary data analysis, and integration into multi-disciplinary research studies that involve both human and animal models. As an experienced resource, the Multimodality Research Associate II position supports scientists, management, and institutional leadership by refining and adapting laboratory procedures, including both quantitative and qualitative analyses, facilitating efforts in equipment calibration and maintenance, proactively identifying technical or safety concerns, and independently supporting both the technical and operational needs.

Seven years of related clinical experience, four of which must be in research Experience in interventional radiology, cardiology, or surgical imaging preferred Experience with Siemens Artis Zeego with multi-modality expertise in CT, MRI or similar interventional imaging systems preferred Experience in a Cardiac Catheterization Lab (Cath Lab) preferred

Independently operates and troubleshoots advanced imaging equipment to ensure optimal performance and accuracy. Provides expert guidance and oversight to scientists, staff, and management on laboratory research and imaging operations. Provides research support which include preliminary data analysis, and integration into multi-disciplinary research studies. Oversees and participates in the development of protocols, procedures, and grant proposals, contributing significant expertise to novel research methods and processes. Conducts laboratory animal and human research and diagnostics, performing data analysis, and contributing to scientific writing.

Performs and verifies accurate data collection and reporting, ensuring adherence to established standards of quality and integrity. Oversees regulatory compliance with accreditation standards and institutional policies, including equipment calibration, certification, and maintenance, ensuring full compliance with licensing requirements. Reviews laboratory activities within area of expertise, providing recommendations for improvements and compliance. Supports the adaptation and refinement of laboratory procedures and protocols, ensuring both quantitative and qualitative analyses are aligned with research needs. Develops and maintains standardized laboratory procedures and safety documentation, ensuring consistency across the research area.

FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provides significant grant proposal contributions which contributes to quality improvement and success of grants applications. Applies cost-effective practices to resource use, balancing operational needs with budget goals. Assumes responsibility for managing project-related expenditures and prepares cost projections within area of expertise. Identifies opportunities for financial efficiency and provides recommendations for resource optimization.
