Director, Corporate CommunicationsShape Enterprise Communications, Strengthen Stakeholder Trust, and Protect Organizational ReputationGeorgia System Operations Corporation (GSOC) is seeking a Director, Corporate Communications to lead the corporate communications function and serve as the organization's senior communications advisor.This hands-on leadership role is accountable for building a trusted business-partner communications capability that advances organizational priorities, supports executive decision-making, drives employee understanding and adoption, strengthens stakeholder trust, and protects GSOC's reputation.The Director leads enterprise communications strategy, executive communications, employee and change communications, Board and member-owner communications, crisis and incident readiness, corporate reputation management, channel strategy, communications planning, measurement, and a three-person Corporate Communications team.This opportunity is ideal for an experienced communications leader who combines executive presence, exceptional writing and editing, sound judgment, calm decision-making, strategic consultation, and the ability to translate complex business, operational, and technical topics into clear and effective communications. What You'll DoAs Director, Corporate Communications, you will set direction for the communications function while serving as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and a strategic partner across the organization.You will:Establish the annual corporate communications strategy, priorities, operating cadence, service model, and communications standards.Align communications priorities with organizational objectives, business goals, stakeholder needs, and corporate reputation considerations.Create and manage intake, prioritization, approvals, templates, service boundaries, channel standards, and measurement processes.Serve as a strategic communications advisor to the CEO, Executive Leadership Team, and senior leaders.Develop executive messages, town halls, leader cascades, talking points, presentations, executive briefings, FAQs, and sensitive employee communications.Provide oversight for employee communication and organizational change communication strategies supporting business transformation, technology implementations, operational improvements, policy updates, workforce initiatives, and culture priorities.Partner with HR, Talent Acquisition, Operations, IT, Finance, Shared Services, and other teams to improve clarity, readiness, adoption, and alignment.Lead the development and maintenance of crisis and incident communication protocols, scenario plans, message templates, approval paths, escalation procedures, and response frameworks.Serve as communications lead during cyber, storm, system, reliability, workplace emergency, or other high-risk events, ensuring messages are timely, accurate, coordinated, and appropriately approved.Provide strategic oversight for communications involving member cooperatives, Board leadership, governance bodies, executive stakeholders, and other key external constituencies.Translate complex business, technical, operational, and strategic topics into clear, audience-focused communications.Lead, coach, develop, and empower a high-performing Corporate Communications team while establishing clear roles, responsibilities, priorities, operating rhythms, and performance standards.Balance strategic advisory work, executive communications, recurring communications, digital and channel work, and production needs.Manage contractors, vendors, and agency partners supporting design, video, specialty work, transition needs, and workload surges.Establish qualitative and quantitative measures for communication effectiveness, channel performance, stakeholder satisfaction, employee engagement, organizational readiness, service delivery, and business impact.Manage the Corporate Communications budget, contractor and vendor spend and assigned project resources. What You BringBachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Business, English, or a related field from an accredited college or university. Equivalent combination of education, training, and directly related work experience may be considered.Ideally, 10+ years of progressive experience in corporate communications, executive communications, internal communications, public affairs, stakeholder communications, change communications, or related fields.Demonstrated experience advising senior executives and developing executive-level communications.Experience leading communication strategies for organizational change, employee engagement, crisis response, and complex business initiatives.Prior people leadership experience with responsibility for coaching, prioritization, development, and performance management.Exceptional writing, editing, message development, and plain-language communication skills.Strong executive presence, business acumen, prioritization, resource allocation, stakeholder consultation, and communications judgment.Ability to remain calm under pressure and exercise sound judgment in sensitive, confidential, high-visibility, or reputation-impacting situations. Preferred QualificationsExecutive, Board & Stakeholder CommunicationsExperience supporting CEO, executive leadership, Board, governance, member-owner, or senior stakeholder communications.Experience developing executive presentations, annual meeting materials, leader toolkits, executive briefings, and sensitive communications.Experience building trusted relationships and influencing outcomes through communication expertise and consultation.Crisis, Change & Reputation CommunicationsExperience leading crisis, incident, reliability, cybersecurity, operational, workplace emergency, or other high-risk communications.Experience developing change communication strategies that improve awareness, readiness, adoption, reinforcement, and sustained behavior change.Experience protecting organizational credibility and trust during sensitive or high-visibility situations.Communications Function LeadershipExperience building or transforming a communications function, service model, communications standards, channel strategy, operating framework, or measurement practice.Experience leading communications professionals and managing contractors, vendors, agencies, budgets, and competing communication priorities.Experience in utility, energy, critical infrastructure, operations-intensive, technical, cooperative, or regulated environments.Tools & CertificationsExperience using AI-assisted content, planning, measurement, or analytics tools is preferred.Accreditation in Public Relations (APR), change management certification, project management certification, or a related professional credential is preferred but not required.
