Fiber I&R Technician

The Fiber I&R Technician in Chatham, NY, is a full‑time position focused on installing fiber optic internet services for residential and commercial customers. The role requires flexibility to work at various client locations as needed. Responsibilities Install, maintain, and repair fiber optic systems. Ensure adequate performance of internet, phone, and, when applicable, television services. Complete pre‑install work orders and post‑install service verification, including customer education. Place aerial or buried fiber optic drops and install interior and exterior wiring. Observe all safety rules and OSHA regulations. Work at heights using/setting up various types of ladders. Work in confined spaces when required. Assist other technicians in the performance of their duties when requested. Present a positive and professional appearance and demeanor when communicating the company’s products and services to customers. Adapt quickly to new processes and information. Use internal systems for work order notation and time‑keeping. Maintain mandatory customer appointments. Meet mandatory productivity metrics, including repeats, completions, and overall performance. Qualifications & Educational Requirements Preferred experience with fiber optic internet and home phone services; paid training provided. Must satisfy company‑required tools and safety equipment checklist. Must own a truck, van, or SUV with a ladder rack. Must have personal tools necessary for the job. Smartphone and laptop are required. Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel. Ability to lift up to 80 lbs unassisted. Effective communication and multi‑tasking skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork. Must pass background check, MVR screen, and drug test. Accountable, dependable, and dependable work ethic. Availability to work overtime and on weekends as customer needs dictate. Ability to incorporate feedback from customers, supervisors, leads, and co‑workers for problem solving and skill improvement.
