Med/Surg Registered Nurse

This position requires a night shift from 19:00 to 07:00.

Job Description

Med/Surg Nurses provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Consulting and coordinating with health care team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
• Preparing and administering medications (orally, subcutaneously, through IV) and recording prescribed medications.
• Reporting adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with nursing policy.
• Educating patients on surgical procedures and post-treatment home care needs.
• Recording patients' medical information and vital signs.
• Monitoring and adjusting specialized equipment used on patients, interpreting and recording electronic displays.
• Initiating corrective actions for patients displaying adverse symptoms.
• Providing bedside care for a wide variety of medical patients, including pre- and post-surgery patients.
• Changing dressings, inserting catheters, and starting IVs as necessary.
• Preparing equipment and aiding the physician during examination and treatment.
• Responding to life-saving situations based on nursing standards and protocol.
• Participating in discharge planning and utilizing time management skills.
• Recording all care information accurately and completely in a timely manner.
• Performing other position-related duties as assigned.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must have current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications (from the American Heart Association).
• Must hold a WY RN license or a multi-state RN license.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
