Overview Description Summary As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) with Providence, you will encourage people to experience various activities in community-based locations and to also explore all that is available in Anne Arundel County. Be a Direct Support Professional and share in another person09s passions and talents while providing person-centered supports that enable people to live, work, and enjoy life as independently as possible in their community. This role will specialize in personalized supports. Personalized supports or community living supports will involve working specifically with one other person to support their independent living skills and support interests in community participation, integration, and belonging. This service is not limited to our four walls- it is community based; help in the person09s home or in their day-to-day appointments and activities. Here are some of the people you could be working with: Work with Faith. Faith is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support her with community-based activities. Her interests include dining out, movies, shopping, football, arts & crafts, word games, and exercising at our Cloverleaf location. Faith is quiet but enjoys participating in activities with encouragement. If you share similar interests and enjoy meaningful community engagement, this could be a great fit! Quincy is looking for a DSP who09s patient, dependable, and excited to help him learn new things. He enjoys volunteering, staying active, and going to the library, and one of his big goals is learning to read. Being on time is really important to Quincy, so reliability matters. Direct Support Professional Pay scale: $20.25 per hour Direct Support Professional Job Type: Part-time positions (Less than 30 hours a week) Direct Support Professional Shift Type: Shifts vary. Day-time hours on Weekdays or Weekends Requirements A Direct Support Professional Must be at least 18 years old Has a valid driver's license ; NOT provisional Is able/willing to transport people in personal and/or company vehicle Has a High school diploma/GED Has Computer skills Your Responsibilities as a Direct Support Professional Participate in the development and implementation of Individual Plan (IP), personal plan or an alternative framework or individual teaching plan. Assists people supported to meet physical (e.g., health, grooming, toileting, eating) and personal management needs (e.g., human development, human sexuality), by teaching skills, providing supports, and building on individual strengths and capabilities that will lead to increased independence. Contribute as a part of a POM team, building companionship and community, facilitating supports, developing activities that have value to the person. Explores vocational interests and aptitudes, assists in preparing for job or school entry, and reviews opportunities for continued career growth.
