Transportation Assistant (Bus Aide)

Provide safe, efficient, and secure transportation for Clarkston School District students in a positive, customer-friendly environment.

High school diploma or GED; You must upload a copy of your HS diploma or GED.

Meet WA State Para-professional Qualifications (72 Quarter Credits from an accredited college/university, an associate's degree, or passing score on the ETS Praxis Test)*The ETS Praxis Test can be taken at the school district office for the cost of the test, $60. School Bus emergency procedures

Complete appropriate reports/documentation as applicable

Maintain an appropriate and legal level of confidentiality of information regarding students, staff and other individuals having business with and access to the school district:

Exhibit ethical behavior at all times

Follow confidentiality procedures

Maintain a safe, clean and organized environment for students and staff:

Review safety criteria

Keep floors dry and clear of objects for safety

Keep chair lift clear of foreign objects

Maintain appropriate student behavior while on the bus

Enforce the use of seatbelts

Report the health issues of each student

Assist with personal hygiene

Use cell phone to call parents or the school

Assist with arrival and departure of students

Review daily schedule and make adjustments

Operate lift for wheelchairs

Escort students to designated seats

Help students secure seatbelts

Secure tie-downs for wheelchairs

Check bus for student materials

Escort students to classroom or wait for classroom assistant

Communicate with classroom assistant or teacher/parents

Ensure that students safely enter and exit bus

Maintain control and safety of students on the bus in the event of an emergency

Assist with bus evacuation drills

Participate in appropriate in-service programs/educational opportunities

Read and study new and updated job related resources

Perform duties with a high degree of courtesy and respect

Perform other duties as assigned by the administrator/supervisor

Must pass a criminal background check that meets required state, federal, and Clarkston School District standards.

Basic math, simple fractions such as measurements, ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, division without using a calculator.

Ability to give and receive written and spoken instructions

Ability to apply general guidelines to a wide variety of situations with several variables
