CMM OPERATOR

Description Position Overview A Britt Aero CMM Operator is responsible for the inspection and verification of precision machined product through the use of a Coordinate-Measuring Machine (CMM). The CMM Operator will run existing CMM inspection programs to verify part dimensions, support inspection processes, and ensure parts meet engineering and customer requirements. Responsibilities Run existing CMM programs to inspect machined components. Review and validate new or revised CMM programs prior to release. Review CMM reports; decipher and report quality abnormalities. Interpret drawings, specifications, and manufacturing plans to verify basic GD&T dimensions. Perform First Article, Final, and In-Process Inspections and maintain Inspection Reports and other quality documents as required. Aid in the identification, segregation, and documentation of non-conforming product, as necessary. Perform shop‑floor inspections through the use of a portable measurement machine (FARO Arm or similar), as required. Assist the Collaborative Robot Inspection cell with part set‑up and loading, as needed. Assist in the use of CMM’s to calibrate/verify internal Check Gages used to buy‑off product. Assist in Surface Plate Lay‑Out Inspections, as needed. Work with Quality, Process, and Tooling Engineers, as necessary, to ensure product compliance. Requirements Experience in inspection (1‑3 years) or CMM is preferred. Must demonstrate competency in reading detailed drawings with a strong understanding of GD&T. Must have the ability to use and read precision measuring instruments, such as but not limited to: micrometers, calipers, height gages, thread gages, indicators, etc. Must possess fundamental mechanical and mathematical knowledge. Exposure to CMM software (PC‑DMIS, Calypso, or similar) is a plus. Must possess a strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn. Must be result oriented and able to work in both an individual and team‑oriented environment.
