Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner

A well-established behavioral health hospital in the St. Louis metro area is seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) for a part-time inpatient assignment in St. Charles, Missouri.

Practice Setting

Providers will work within an inpatient psychiatric hospital providing evaluation, medication management, treatment planning, and ongoing psychiatric care.

The PMHNP will collaborate closely with psychiatrists, therapists, nursing staff, and other behavioral health professionals to support patients throughout their hospitalization and treatment process.

This position offers exposure to complex psychiatric cases and a broad spectrum of behavioral health diagnoses.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Conduct psychiatric evaluations and assessments
• Perform inpatient psychiatric rounds
• Manage psychotropic medications
• Develop and update treatment plans
• Provide medication administration management
• Collaborate with psychiatrists and interdisciplinary teams
• Monitor patient progress and response to treatment
• Document patient encounters within the EMR
• Participate in discharge planning and continuity of care
• Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses and treatment plans

Schedule Part-Time

• Monday and Tuesday
• 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
• Approximately 24 Hours Weekly

Additional Availability

• No Weekend Requirements

Patient Population

Providers will care for psychiatric patients ranging from:

• Ages 17-68

Common diagnoses may include:

• Depression
• Anxiety Disorders
• Bipolar Disorder
• Schizophrenia
• Psychotic Disorders
• Substance Use Disorders
• Dual-Diagnosis Patients
• Behavioral Health Crisis Stabilization

Patient Volume

• Approximately 20 Patients Per Day
• Inpatient Behavioral Health Environment
• Team-Based Patient Care Model

Team & Support

Providers will join a well-supported behavioral health team that includes:

• 1.5 Staff Psychiatrists
• 2 Full-Time Nurse Practitioners
• 4 Part-Time Nurse Practitioners

Typically, 5-6 psychiatric providers are working daily, creating a highly collaborative clinical environment.

Qualifications Required

• Licensed Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
• Active Missouri License
• BLS Certification
• CPR Certification
• Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Experience
• Behavioral Health Experience

Preferred

• Inpatient Psychiatry Experience
• Experience with Substance Use Disorders
• Experience Managing Complex Psychiatric Patients
• Behavioral Health Hospital Experience
• Collaborative Care Experience

Board Certification is not required.

Candidates with strong psychiatric experience may be considered even without fellowship training.
