Area Manager

Job Description:

Working under the direction of the Viticulture Team and the President, the Area Vineyard Manager is responsible for the supervision and QC of multiple field crews and equipment operations, ensuring that both viticulture and client goals are met. To ensure these goals are met, the ideal candidate must be highly organized, adaptable to quick changes, approachable when dealing with clients, and above all, be highly detail oriented.
Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

•  Multiple site visits per day to ensure crew safety, quality, and efficiency
•  Moving and setting up crews in the assigned geographical area
•  Setting up and checking vineyard equipment operations
•  Working with the viticulture team to ensure that irrigation, pest sprays, and vine nutrition are carried out according to quality standards set forth by the company
•  Monitor all aspects of assigned properties and report your findings and concerns to management promptly (vine status, irrigation status, floor management, pest pressure, debris/litter, utilities, ranch infrastructure concerns, client concerns, etc.)
•  Contribute to harvest operations company-wide, supervising harvest crews and ensuring the setup for the next day’s harvest is complete
•  Run frost protection protocol for assigned area
•  Work with the Safety Director to ensure safety is a high priority across all operations
•  Attend industry functions as assigned
•  Meet with and address the client’s minor questions and concerns
•  Meet with vendors to maintain ranch facilities (pump systems, weather stations, irrigation systems, etc.)
•  Turn in paperwork timely-Daily timecards for Self, crews, and individuals, material usage.
•  Manage schedule and calendar for self and employees working under your supervision.
•  Prompt response or call back to Executives, office staff, supervisors, foreman, laborers, clients, and vendors.
•  Open a line of communication with employees via radio and or cellphone.
•  Manage Spray Program-Stay within intervals, manage material inventory, spray work orders. Notifications to clients, beekeepers, and schools. Quality Control spray calculations and coverage.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
•  5+ years of previous Vineyard Management/Viticulture/Vineyard Manager experience
•  Bilingual in English and Spanish
•  Detail oriented and well organized
•  Good communication skills
•  College experience in viticulture/farming/ag business preferred but not required
•  Ability to work outdoors in all seasons (hot, wet, dusty, cold)
•  Ability to navigate tough terrain and steep vineyards
•  Ability to lift 50 pounds
•  Standard work week is six days per week, 10 hours per day, more during harvest season and as needed
•  Reporting in person to Geyserville headquarters daily is required before and after work
