Support Staff (Polk County)

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Provides supervision of residents on a constant basis. *
2. Supervises daily activities and daily schedules. *
3. Facilitates group activities including basic living skills such as cooking, cleaning, community outings, and drug abuse and alcohol education awareness sessions. *
4. Completes daily progress notes on each resident by the end of each day.
5. Develops a line of communication to effectively interact with residents.
6. Ensures a clean, safe environment for all residents. *
7. Documents any incident and information that addresses the needs of the resident. *
8. Coordinates activities to fit the schedule developed by management. *
9. Maintains and attends all activities scheduled for residents. *
10. Maintains a positive attitude and sets a good example for residents. *
11. Maintains a parent-child relationship, not a friend-friend relationship. *
12. Monitors and contributes to the on‑going maintenance, safety, and housekeeping of the program. *
13. Participates in staff development programs, staff meetings, and training sessions. *
14. Confirms that all medical and dental visits are documented and placed in the resident file. *
15. Coordinates and transports residents to and from school, outings, and appointments and ensures that transportation to visits have had management approval prior to transport. *
16. Maintains transportation log of all transportation in company vehicle. *
17. Notifies management staff of maintenance needs for vehicles and homes. *
18. Reads and responds to all emails and messages within 1 business day. *
19. Checks work calendar for daily appointments. *
20. Provides crisis prevention and intervention.
21. Completes monthly supplies and food inventory.
22. Responsible for monthly grocery shopping.
23. Prepares homes for annual inspections.

Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word and electronic records database software. Education / Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. At least 2 years experience working with children or adolescents, preferably in a community‑based program. Required Trainings and Certificates CPR and first aid certification Valid Florida driver’s license Nonviolent crisis prevention intervention certification Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities Great oral and written communication skills Great time management skills Genuine desire to work with children and adolescents.
