Material Coordinator

Warehouse Material Handler

Must be familiar with tools and consumables. Have the ability to hand out and receive both tools and welding wire. Knowledgeable in repairing tools. Ability to order consumables and tools and to maintain a log of distribution.

Responsibilities include storing, removing, loading, and unloading all types of materials from storage bins, pallets, trays, racks, and vehicles that can't be handled by material handling devices. Opening containers using steel cutters, crowbar, claw hammer, or other hand tools. Operating manual or mechanical devices and stocking inventory shelves. Securing lifting attachments to materials and conveying load to destination using hand-operated crane or hoist, or signaling crane or hoisting operators to move load to destination. Reading production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order or following oral instructions to determine items to be moved, gathered or distributed. Assorting and placing materials or items on racks, shelves or bins according to predetermined sequences such as size type, style, or color. Counting, weighing, and recording number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet. Attaching identifying tags or labels to materials or marking information on cases, bales, or other containers. Moving materials and supplies from warehouse and preparing for delivery. Filling requisition, work orders or request for materials, tools or stock items. Stacking or assembling materials into bundles and banding bundles together, using banding machine and clincher. Clamping sections of portable conveyor together or placing conveyor sections on blocks or boxes to facilitate movement of materials or products. Lifting objects by hand or using power hoist, and cleaning work area, machines, and equipment, using broom, rags, and cleaning compounds, to assist machine operators. Making simple adjustments or repairs, such as realigning belts or replacing rollers, using hand tools. Assembling crates to contain products, such as machines or vehicles, using hand tools and precut lumber. Shoveling loose materials, such as sand, gravel, metals, plastics, or chemicals, into machine hoppers or into vehicles and containers, such as wheelbarrows, scrap truck, or barrels. Recording material items received or distributed. Performing routine housekeeping tasks to maintain work area. Following all hazardous waste handling guidelines. Responsible for observing and following all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment. Performing other duties and activities as directed.

Qualifications may require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area. Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.

Job requirements include working within precise limits or standards of accuracy. Planning work and selecting proper tools. Comparing and seeing differences in the size, shape and form of lines, figures and objects. Visualizing objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings. Making decisions based on measurable criteria. Reporting unsafe conditions and practices. Performing only those jobs on which they have been trained and/or authorized.

Physical requirements include standing 40% of the time, walking 30%, and sitting 30%. Lifting 50 lbs. Carrying 50 lbs. Pushing 70 ft-lb. Pulling 70 ft-lb. Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, and fingering.
