Clinical Nurse Coordinator Charge RN Med Surg ICU

Methodist Hospital, part of SA Health and a leading healthcare provider in San Antonio, is seeking a Clinical Nurse Coordinator / Charge RN for our combined Med Surg and ICU environment. In this pivotal leadership role, you will coordinate and oversee daily nursing operations on the unit, ensuring safe, high-quality, and compassionate care for a diverse patient population with both medical-surgical and critical care needs. The Clinical Nurse Coordinator / Charge RN is responsible for managing patient flow, including admissions, transfers, and discharges, delegating and supervising nursing assignments, and monitoring staffing levels and patient acuity throughout the shift. You will collaborate closely with physicians, allied health professionals, case management, and support services to develop and implement patient-centered care plans, promote evidence-based practice, and support smooth transitions of care between Med Surg and ICU levels. This role requires strong critical thinking, excellent communication, and the ability to respond quickly and effectively to changes in patient condition, including emergency situations and rapid response events. You will actively participate in quality improvement initiatives, patient safety programs, and regulatory compliance, contributing to performance metrics such as infection prevention, falls reduction, and medication safety. The Clinical Nurse Coordinator / Charge RN will mentor and precept new nurses and students, support ongoing staff education and competency development, and help foster a culture of accountability, respect, and continuous learning.
