Field Service Engineer - Northeast/New England Region Northeast/New England, USA Position Overview A highly skilled UPS Field Engineer is needed to apply an in-depth knowledge of UPS start-up, testing, and operations. This role involves commissioning, maintenance, and emergency support for power electronics at customer sites, primarily in the Northeast/New England region. Key Responsibilities Conduct commissioning‑focused design reviews, prepare test procedures and reports, and oversee on‑site testing. Perform preventive maintenance, emergency response, equipment start‑up, and field modifications. Coordinate with technical support to resolve maintenance or operational issues. Assist in developing Methods of Procedures (MOPs). Report to a supervisor for any unusual issues or developments. Train periodically at company headquarters on testing equipment and rebuilding systems. Complete Field Service Reports promptly and provide proactive recommendations to clients. Be based from home. Qualifications Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience. Preferred 10+ years of relevant experience. Skill in troubleshooting equipment such as UPS, batteries, PDUs, STSs, etc. Proficient with hand tools and test equipment for maintenance and repairs. Strong verbal, written communication, and customer service skills. Ability to work independently with resourcefulness and initiative. Knowledge of equipment manufacturers’ specifications. Physically capable of bending and lifting up to 100 lbs as required. Willingness to work nights, weekends, and be on‑call when needed. Basic knowledge of computer hardware and software. Prior experience with third‑party UPS service providers is a plus. OEM factory training or experience with brands such as Emerson/Liebert/Vertiv, APC/MGE/Schneider, or Eaton/Powerware/PDI is required. A technical degree (e.g., DeVry, Lincoln Tech) is a plus. Military veterans with experience in Electrical/Mechanical systems are highly valued (Navy EMN, ETN, MMNs, Army Power Generation, Air Force Power Production, Coast Guard, etc.). Must have a clean driving record. Occasional national travel may be required for emergencies. Location Preference Candidate is preferred to live in Northeast/New England area – Ideally Massachusetts, Rhode Island, or New Hampshire.
