Dean specializes in electrical engineering and systems integration, focusing on automation systems. We seek a dedicated Deputy Project Leader to support our Automation Systems Business Unit. The role involves assisting the Project Leader in overseeing automation projects across various applications such as industrial controls, water/wastewater, power controls, cybersecurity, energy management, building automation, and transportation systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent organizational skills, and an interest in advancing into project leadership. Responsibilities Project Support: Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing automation projects. Define project requirements, objectives, and deliverables with the team. Develop project plans, work breakdown structures, and schedules. Monitor progress, address issues, and manage risks and changes. Team Coordination: Support the Project Leader in managing engineers, technicians, and subcontractors. Assign tasks and ensure timely completion. Promote effective communication and collaboration within the team. Documenting and Reporting: Maintain project documentation, including plans and reports. Prepare status updates, progress reports, and client communications. Develop presentations for stakeholders. Quality Assurance and Compliance: Ensure projects meet quality standards and industry regulations. Participate in inspections and audits. Implement quality control processes. Budget and Resource Management: Support budget tracking and expense management. Coordinate procurement of materials and subcontractors. Assist in monitoring financials for cost optimization. Automation Systems Knowledge: Develop understanding of automation technologies. Stay updated with industry standards. Support technical discussions and resolve issues. Qualifications Experience with automation systems such as switchgear, power distribution, metering, and motor control centers. Willingness to learn and grow into project leadership roles. Excellent leadership and communication skills. Proficiency in Primavera P6 CPM Scheduling or equivalent. Ability to obtain security clearances. Experience leading cross-functional teams. Financial literacy and project financial reporting skills. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Capability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Project management certifications like PMP or CAP are preferred. Education / Experience Master's in engineering with 3-5 years of experience or Bachelor's in engineering with 5-7 years of experience. Abilities Extended screen time and sitting. Reach and finger dexterity for manipulating objects and using a keyboard. Effective listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Apply rules to solve problems. Attend in-person meetings and possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
