Airport Construction Manager III

Position Title: Construction Manager III Location: Los Angeles World Airports, Los Angeles, CA (On‑Site) Requisition #: PS1332 Candidate must be willing and able to commute to the LAWA office and make site visits as necessary. Overview The TDIP Construction Manager will work with the CLMI client on site at Los Angeles World Airports. The TDIP Construction Manager reports to the assigned project’s project manager and is responsible for managing and coordinating construction activities of the Construction Contractor (Design/Builder and/or Construction Manager at Risk). The role acts as the liaison for pre‑construction and construction activities, leading safety, security and quality for the assigned programs. TDIP is a major capital program focused on delivering distinct projects to modernize LAX’s passenger terminals, improving customer experience, operational efficiency, safety and connectivity. The TDIP Construction Manager is responsible for managing scope, cost, schedule and operational interfaces of all design and construction related activities. The focus is on schedule certainty, budget delivery and ensuring construction meets required quality standards while enforcing a strong health, safety and environmental culture. The Manager supports the development and implementation of design, construction, testing, commissioning, turnover plans and risk mitigation, working with stakeholders and ensuring LAWA standards are adhered to. Essential Job Duties Monitor all on‑site field construction activities associated with project completion. Apply comprehensive knowledge of various disciplines and installation methods and techniques. Ensure construction operations follow approved work plans and Area Shutdown Requests (ASRs) with proper notifications. Become thoroughly familiar with contractual obligations and technical aspects of all facilities to be erected. Ensure all work is performed and inspected to the latest versions of plans and specifications, including approved changes, submittals and RFIs. Work with Construction Contractor and stakeholders to develop overall planning of construction activities and identify critical milestones and priorities. Monitor budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule. Monitor assignment of manpower, materials and equipment to maximize efficiency, maintain schedules and meet budget goals. Keep alert to possible problem areas and take preventative action to ensure critical milestones are met for each phase. Ensure safe construction practices to attain required quality control at maximum efficiency and minimum cost. Prepare periodic reports summarizing progress of construction activities for higher‑level management and clients. Ensure effective implementation of all policies and procedures, including project labor agreement policies. Contribute to the advancement of TDG's goals through productive collaboration with all stakeholders. Participate in all necessary coordination meetings with the Construction Contractor, trade partners, stakeholders, LAWA Operations, etc. Review Contractor Potential Change Order Claims for merit and negotiate to final resolution. Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate. Key Identifiers for the Position Construction Manager with experience in an operating/active environment. Management of construction within budget and schedule constraints while maintaining all necessary scope elements. Leader in stakeholder engagement to identify, communicate, resolve and accomplish their needs while preserving project scope, schedule and budget principles. Knowledge in construction contracting practices and methodologies. Knowledge and experience in the project construction life cycle from Pre‑Construction to estimating/buyout to phasing to implementation to Closeout. Maintain excellent working relationships with design and construction professionals focused on open communications and mutual problem solving for project success. Hardware/Software Knowledge Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam. Familiarity with Project Management Information Systems (PM Web). Professional Experience Level/Other Qualifications 10 years or more experience, preferably on airport projects. Experience with projects more than $100 million in value. Experience with various delivery methods, including Design‑Bid‑Build, Design+CMAR and Design/Build. Proven ability to perform in a management capacity. Excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations. Multiple positions anticipated – submitted experience should emphasize airport concourse scope, headhouse scope, or site/civil scope. Education/Training Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field required. Master’s degree preferred. Optional certifications may include AAAE, LEED, PE, PMP, AICP or other relevant professional licensure. Element‑Specific Requirements/Notes May assume other duties as required/needed. May be required to work past regular shift. May be required to work various shifts as needed. LAWA will provide a desktop computer that can be VPN'd into. CLMI will supply a company‑provided laptop computer. CLMI will supply a company‑provided cell phone. This is NOT a work from home position. This is a salaried position based on 40 hours per week at the applicable all‑in labor rate. This is a Monday‑Friday full‑time position in the office or on the project site at LAX. After‑hours or weekend work may be required; this is considered part of the salary. Transportation to/from LAX worksite is the responsibility of the employee. The salary range for this position is $160,000‑$170,000.
