Position Summary

The Assistant Residential Manager plays a dual role of leadership and direct support within GIL Foundation’s Adults with Disabilities Program. This position assists in managing daily operations while also working hands-on with clients to support their personal care, daily living, and community participation. The ideal candidate is dependable, compassionate, and skilled in leading a team while maintaining a person-centered, respectful approach to client care.

What You'll Do

Leadership & Program Support

• Assist the Program Manager with daily program operations and staff supervision.
• Support staff scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.
• Help ensure staff follow agency policies, procedures, and applicable state and federal regulations.
• Communicate effectively with families, guardians, case managers, and outside agencies.
• Serve as Acting Program Manager in the Program Manager's absence to ensure continuity of care and operations.

Direct Support & Personal Care

Provide hands-on support based on each individual's needs, which may include:

• Bathing and grooming
• Dressing
• Feeding
• Toileting
• Mobility and transfers
• Other activities of daily living

Support individuals in developing and maintaining:

• Daily living skills
• Social skills
• Independence and self-sufficiency
• Community participation

Person-Centered Support

• Assist with implementing Individual Service Plans (ISPs) and behavioral support strategies.
• Encourage independence, choice, dignity, and personal growth.
• Participate in recreational activities, community outings, and other meaningful experiences.
• Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.

Documentation & Safety

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including progress notes, incident reports, and attendance records.
• Follow health and safety procedures.
• Identify and report concerns promptly.
• Help ensure the residence and services remain compliant with applicable requirements.

Education & Experience

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working directly with adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
• 1 year of supervisory or lead experience preferred.
• Experience with person-centered planning and support preferred.

Skills & Requirements

• Knowledge of DDS regulations and requirements.
• Familiarity with crisis intervention and behavioral support strategies.
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office and electronic documentation systems.
• Valid Connecticut driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Must successfully complete all required background checks.

• State Medication Administration Certification (Group Home Workers Only)
