Stylist in Training / Apprentice Stylist

Position Overview A stylist-in-training is a temporary position designed to integrate an unlicensed, future stylist into the salon workplace and to help them learn the business. Responsibilities Market and grow the business Observe other stylists and managers at work and ask relevant questions Provide exceptional customer service Promote and sell services and retail products Answer telephones, stock and dust shelves, and sweep hair Complete all other duties as assigned by the manager The stylist-in-training may be eligible for a promotion to the stylist position once they receive their license. A promotion to stylist is not automatically guaranteed. To be considered for the promotion, the stylist-in-training must: Receive a valid license in their applicable state Have the ability to perform the duties required by that license (including cutting, styling, coloring, providing wax treatments, washing, and perming hair with or without accommodation) Demonstrate that they practice our values of honesty, accountability, integrity, and respect Qualifications Must be enrolled in an accredited cosmetology school On the road to obtaining the necessary license(s) to perform salon services within 90 days Ability to work in a dynamic salon environment Good time‑management skills, good judgment, and the ability to multi‑task Well‑developed interpersonal skills to communicate in a professional and courteous manner with customers, co‑workers, and management Computer knowledge including, but not limited to, point‑of‑sale systems and data entry Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends Perks and Benefits Once you become a stylist, here's what you could expect: Greater of commission or hourly pay every other Friday Opportunity to earn up to 50% commission on service sales and 10% on retail sales 401(k) Paid holidays Paid vacation Opportunity for flexible schedule Participation in charitable giving Team‑based bonuses Yearly tool upgrade stipend Ongoing training and continuing education provided at no cost Employee referral bonuses License renewal reimbursement Product and service discount program Desired Skills for Our Stylists Hair‑dresser/stylist/cosmetologist experience Cosmetology license Salon experience preferred (in school or professional) Experience using different types of scissors, trimmers, and other tools to create hairstyles Understanding of the different types of hairstyles a person can request and how to achieve those looks Willingness to learn about new styles and techniques Ability to communicate with customers and understand a look they want, even if they don’t know the technical terms for a certain style #J-18808-Ljbffr
